Meanwhile, the ministry said it will investigate 144 officials over whether they have ever been wined and dined by people involved with entities the ministry supervises

He also apologized for obtaining from the ministry a license for The Cinema 4K channel based on false information the company submitted stating that it is less than 20 percent foreign-owned.

144? The corruption is breathtaking. False information? Doesn’t the ministry check? Where are the prosecutors?

Corruption Buffet as I like to say.

But who cares? Its not like LDP will be voted out. So nothing will change.

""But he stressed, "I have not made any request or talked about receiving any favors.""

No need to make any requests sir, the intend is what matters.

NTT and DoCoMo are the biggest OPEN Rip Off I have ever experienced while living in Japan.

I still remember the days when I had to pay 50,000 just to get a a home phone number, while it cost me $25,00 (2,700JPY) in other parts of the world. DoCoMo still is one if not the only manipulative mobile provider in Japan, all these extra options the SHOVE down your throat when signing up then tahy say you can cancel after 30 days but you have to pay the first month fess, and when you try to cancel they make it as difficult as possible trying to find the right page to cancel. This is the dirtiest establishment I ever had to deal with.

But he stressed, "I have not made any request or talked about receiving any favors."

Yeah, he'll say it was not a favour, but twist the words into something like "it was a promotion sample, which is not for sale. If it's not for sale, it has no value" or so. It's always a word play in such situation.

Sawada explained he regularly hosts social gatherings to exchange views with lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition parties and experts from various fields.

Yeah, we can't do it as anywhere else in the world, we must do it like this. Doesn't matter that such thing is a bribery and corruption elsewhere. This is Japan, we are unique. You can't compare. Think!

The day to day problems just continue (dolphin, whale, coal, forests, fishing, climate, racism etc, etc) but the Japanese live with it and do or say nothing, oh wait, almost forgot banning plastic forks and spoons going to change the world.

Let's fight it hard! Let's create a new mascot promoting getting rid of day to day problems. That'll show those dolphins, whales, coal, forests and other fish in the sea!!

Oh look, everyone look! There is a monkey in a funny hat fighting a cat in a samurai costume! Oh look, so funny.

Endless corruption, endlessly.

In this case, i want to believe the NTT President because NTT’s position with the government is always strong and the NTT president has no need to use dinners to get to top bureaucrats and administrations.

I wouldn’t count it directly under corruption. Of course they are not stupid and now know that everything is watched by opposition groups and the media. It’s more a general trend you can see everywhere. Considering many months and restrictions due to the corona pandemic and also an outlook , even if only felt , of a lifespan probably shorter than usual or filled with LongCovid symptoms, many people cancel their self-restraints, grab what they can, party and celebrate whatever and where it is available. That’s why they hold meetings at luxurious places, Brazilians fill the beaches like sardines and US spring breakers wildly party maskless as if there’s really no tomorrow.

And we are not yet at the brown envelopes stage. Keep your breath !

I always wondered what NTT stood for Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp Telegraph? didn't see that coming NFT might have been a better option (Fax) 30 years ago NIT would be upto date (Internet) and nits are just as annoying and has had to get rid of as these corrupt old men, requires a head shave and a hot bath in bleach.

apologized for undermining the public's trust in government

No issues there.

I have no trust in government to begin with.

Government’s power should be limited as much as possible, and kept out of many areas of our lives so that we don’t end up paying taxes to fund the special privileges of those groups that can afford the highest bid to take those in “power” (over our taxes) to fancy dinners (and worse, I expect)

Where are the prosecutors?

They are busy being wined and dined !
