He suffered a setback there when the U.S. and South Korea failed to complete a long-sought, free-trade deal.

BIGGEST NEWS OF THE WEEK-- bigger than that mysterious missile off CA!

In America, that's not even close to a setback. We are simply being diplomatic.

Heck, we can't have Government Motors cars infesting the streets of Korea and U.S. beef infesting the supermarkets and restaurants of Korea!

Welcome to Japan, Mr. President.

Welcome, sir.

Sarge, most people in Japan would not buy a GM auto. They are too big, use too much gas and it is hard to find a parking spot for it. The beef is another story but I think the hormones in it cause obesity. My prediction is stormy weather in the conference.

Obama suffered another setback in not being able to convince the G-20 that China's currency should rise.

The media in the US say the stop in Japan is a waste of time. They say Japan has no contribution to solving the worlds economy and move way too slow for current markets. Everyone in the E20 all have agreed that Japan is so far behind the rest of the world they are not relevant in any current discussion.

"The media in the US say the stop in Japan is a waste of time"

Whoever said that doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

Somehow, i have a cute image of a maid greeting him in the airport..."Okaerinashaimase, goshujinsama"...

The media in the US say the stop in Japan is a waste of time

That's just ignorance of the geopolitics. Even though Japan is not the powerful country of the '80s, it still remains a very strong state in the region and a "buffer" state between Russia and China in the one side and USA in the other. The Cold War is not over, ladies and gentlemen. It has just changed into an economic war.

“Good will visit”?

What a joke!

Obama is touring to create jobs for Americans and to sell weapons. He is also there to stir up dust among Asian nations and ensure America world dominance continues, this time with other’s money.

India just inked a 10-billion dollars deal for America. If Japan does not like to be called irrelevant by U.S. media, time to pay up.

There is no true friendship between nations. Nation own interest always prevails. Dependency on America has a price to pay because you will always be secondary to America interest.

“It (Japan) still remains a very strong state in the region and a "buffer" state between Russia and China in the one side and USA in the other”.

Sure, being the buffer state will always get the first hit.

japan IS irrelevant now. Obama wastes time visiting japan when he should spending his limited time much more profitably.
