Though the LDP emphasizes Japan's alliance with the United States, it "assumes far more American agreement with its policies than it probably actually has" and risks conflict with China in which the United States may not back Japan,

Beware Japan...

seems Obama will have to play a greater role in the region than simply sending congratulatory message to Abe.

I'm sure Obama is pleased.

Abe is to Obama as Blair was to Bush,

"Good boy! Sit! Beg! Fetch!"

With so many Japanese opposed to nuclear power, it is impossible that so many nuclear power advocates (LDP) were elected. Obviously a fradulent (rigged) election.

Sounds like a delicacy somewhere.

Obama congratulates Abe on election win

He's had a lot of practice with that phone call!...

Just how many changes in PM have there been since Obama became president? I've lost count!

U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated Shinzo Abe on his conservative opposition’s electoral win Sunday, saying he looked forward to working with the next government.

-He probably means working with Abe, and then the next government in Summer of 2013

@bertie

I'm sure Obama is pleased.

Abe is to Obama as Blair was to Bush,

"Good boy! Sit! Beg! Fetch!"

That was a very childish and untrue remark to say. How about wanting to wish Abe soe much needed "good luck."

I wished him good luck several years ago. This time I wish he does a better job and doesn't choke like he did last time.

Obama progressive thinker vs Abe regressive thinker. Obama demand side economy vs Abe supply side economy.

Obama progressive thinker vs Noda progressive thinker. Obama demand side economy vs Noda demand side economy.

Folks, how does it work?

Obama is hardly a progressive thinker. He likes to promote himself as one, but he is a centrist.

Let's see... Obama's term is four years. So... "U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated Shinzo Abe on his conservative opposition’s electoral win Sunday, saying he looked forward to working with the next government, and the next government, and the next government, and the next government."

Perhaps he said what he really meant. Not... I look forward to working with the new government, but in fact... I look forward to working with the NEXT government.

Hmm...

Usa wish Japan is ruled by LDP, of course. Only remember like they were unhappy about Hatoyama pro-Asia policy.

Obama’s advice to abe: keep the money-printing machine at full capacity, crank it up a notch or two, pray hard things’ll turn out alright
