shrug off criticism during the 2020 Games preparation period, saying everything will work out in the end

The Brexit Approach.

Boris Johnson, London mayor when the city hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics, advised Tokyo Gov Yuriko Koike on Friday to shrug off criticism during the 2020 Games preparation period, saying everything will work out in the end.

I'd ask residents of Stratford if it worked out for them, what with unscruplulous landlords upping rents and so on.

Bring the Olympics home to Athens, permanently. It's time to end the corruption, waste and destruction that has built up around the games. My local grocery store and shopping street is currently being razed to the ground to make way for cheap Olympic hotels. It's an absolute farce to destroy people's businesses, jobs and way of life for 2 weeks of national glory and decades of debt.

Does Japan need any advises?

Koike is slow in the game.

"absolute sensation" is absolutely nonsense.

That's Boris. Given to lashings of hyperbole, that man.

I enjoyed the most recent of the Games trip to Asia. Right up to when it was revealed that the 7 year old singer was deemed not pretty enough to perform in front of the cameras and a lip syncher was used :-(

Go Boris! Whether the 2020 games are "absolutely sensational" is rather in the hands of the Japanese people and Government. Mulan, he is a visitor to the country giving a positive endorsement to his hosts, are you so simplistic that you would expect him to denigrate the games in front of them?

Toasted Heretic, rents rise wherever there is a major infastructure project, economic reality. Simplistic demonisation of any group does not answer the question.

Won't somebody please think of the landlords?! Stratford, Battersea and Shepherd's Bush. They know all about broken promises of "legacy" and "affordable housing".

Koike should have told the elitist, racist, Liverpool hating, Bullingdon bully to "go whistle". The Tokyo Games will succeed (or not) on its own merit and it doesn't need a diplomatic disaster like Boris to stick his oar in.

Japan is in a very good position in the Games. Not necessarily Koike is in her good position. She is slow to realize it. 2018, 2020,2022, SK, Japan, China, golden triangle has a golden opportunity is an unprecedented Olympics. The synergy, the cooperation, are unique and Koike is going to loose it.

Japan will do a great job for the 2020 Olympics. With the number of tourists increasing exponentially, 2020 will be a big year for Japan. The smart people will find a niche and do very well.

I watched and appreciated the amateur Olympics of 30 years ago. You couldn't pay me to do either now.

The Brexit Approach.

In other words, the critics and pundits will find that their years of brooding pessimism was exceedingly wrong once the thing actually gets under way? Yeah, I get the analogy.

Not sure Greece has the money though, and Greeks will not be happy as well since they are struggling economically and financially just to survive.

Koike, as usually, listens to advice. She will utilize good portion and make hers better and. better.

Johnson is qualified to give advice of this nature.
