Opposition parties criticized Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday as based on political considerations rather than merit,

As it has been here from like forever.

"The Liberal Democratic Party has gone back to their old ways of rewarding loyalty with favors,"

Please tell me when did the LDP ever do it any differently?

It's so frustrating, the same tax payer funded old men regurgitated again and again. Same stupid ideas same nonsense it would appear that longevity is not so great.

Aso is a corrupt snake that only thinks of helping his buddies. Japan is doomed with these guys in power.

Bejeeves! Didn’t. Even know there was an opposition party.

Of course they criticize the cabinet reshuffle. That’s why they are called, the opposition. It’s there job to oppose the party in power. However, the JDP should put up or shut up. They have not been able to mount any sort of real challenge or hold the power for many decades.

As much as we all hate Aso, Abe and any other future PM will have Aso in their cabinet. He is the leader of the largest LDP fraction and no PM can be elected without the support of Aso. That's just the sad truth.

And of course the opposition parties will criticize. They have nothing to do except to spend their time and our tax money to seek out flaws from Abe administration. Instead of seeking real solutions to make our country better, their sole purpose in life for these next 3 years is to make LDP miserable and go against any proposal they might submit and stop them in their tracks. Is their mission that make the public see that Abe was a mistake for being selected. How lucky we are.

That's pretty much how the LDP took back power in 2012.

Ummm, the JDP was just created prior to the last lower house election.

That's just it. I have to wonder if the 'opposition' is intentionally a toothless lap dog that gives people the impression that Japan is a democratic nation.

Whether the democratic system just evolved into this, or whether Jiminto employed more nefarious tactics a long time ago - this system cannot rightfully be called a democracy any more. No one has a voice except Nippon Kaigi, Jiminto and Japan Inc...
