Fighto!
Wonderful news to hear!
The Integrated Resorts, when complete, will be a big shot in the arm for Japan in terms of jobs and growth. Gambling in various forms has existed for a long time in Japan and the sky hasn't fallen in. Horse racing is enormous nationwide, then there's motorbike racing, keirin, speedboat racing and of course pachinko. Casino gambling will be just a small percentage of gambling overall.

It was 2020 when a bunch of politicians were on trial for bribery for this casino.
Looks like a happy end for the LPD.
No resignations and pockets full of money.

The reason why the sky hasn't fallen is that it's actually relatively difficult to lose your life savings in a matter of hours with those forms if gambling, whereas at casino games it's far easier and has ruined far more people and their families. When the LDP and their associates see what they can rake in in Osaka you'll see other establishments opened with glowing reports in the media to justify them.

Good news. Look forward to playing some Texas hold 'em.

Osaka and the region will get an instant influx of money... then a percentage of the population will fall into massive debt and despair as they gamble away everything. Crime will increase exponentially, as will poverty for many. But, the government will get a huge windfall in taxes.

It’s simple math only, or name it probably of chances. If there aren’t casinos, 1% is rich, from inheritance, very hard work in a lucky business or have luckily made it at the stock exchange or other betting and lotteries etc, but 99% remain in (relative) poverty, the normal life so to say, working from nine to five for a little above nothing, a little car and maybe a cheap travel once in a while. Now let’s assume, those 99% suddenly have the chance to leave that old life, when there’s still a bigger chance to lose due to 5he house advantage of casinos, but also quite a chance to win something significant. The statistical ratio is 53% to 47% at roulette tables , for example. You surely must have been blinded somehow when not seeing, that an improbable chance of 1% to have a rich life is very much lower than a 47% chance they offer you to maybe break out of your lifelong hamster wheel.

In fact, it has been reported and statistically proven by LMU and TU that the world's population is made of "only" 64% living in (relative) poverty, while 36% belong to the upper class.

I’m sure Japan will find away to make a casino the most funless experience possible.

Sorry, I don’t quite understand your point, but the reason why Casino owners are stinking rich is because the odds are significantly in their favor. Of all the people going to Casinos in the world, I would be surprised if even 1% actually became rich from winning for the rest of their life.
On another note, I’m for casinos, but I think they would be better received if the Government made an actual plan to direct certain percentages of the tax income to specific investments to benefit the general population… like parks and day care facilities and nursing homes.

True, and they don't even bother to release some PR propaganda to convince people that the Casino plan will be good for everyone.
As far as we know it will only benefit casino owners, corrupt politicians and related mafia activities.

There won’t be any benefit to the people of Osaka but Orix and MGM will be the winners and there will be an increase in students if the Chinese language…
