Those are some pretty significant titles, all loaded into one aircraft. Sure hope they have AWACS and fighter escort, but I think that's a given.

Pelosi lands in Singapore in hopes of discussing how to avoid capital gains on her juicy gains from insider trading.

Please go to Taiwan Nancy!

12 ( +27 / -15 )

I hope Pelosi visits Taiwan. Because nothing extraordinary is going to happen from the visit and China will be left with egg foo young on their faces for having gotten their panties into a knot for no real reason.

10 ( +27 / -17 )

Really hoping Pelosi stops off for a day or two in free Taiwan to affirm the unbreakable friendship and alliance with the USA.

She has every right to do so if invited, and Communist China can just put a sock in it. Absolutely none of their business, and everyone knows the Chinese would be too gutless to take any action!

10 ( +23 / -13 )

She better have left her pot at home. They don't mess around in Singapore with it.

Nope. Pelosi has Diplomatic Immunity.

Trump goes to Taiwan and starts World War 3

Bad bad bad dog!

Nancy goes to Taiwan and starts World War 3

Go Nancy!

LOL China said that before!!! They better find bunkers to hide in if they attack its on!!!

In Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian reiterated the earlier warnings on Monday, saying “there will be serious consequences if she insists on making the visit.”

@Simian Lane LMFAO I hope you have your reading glasses on and hearing protection while reading your book!!!

If Nancy doesn’t go to Taiwan, America is going to go down in my book.

The cynic inside me suggests U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi main motivation to visit Taiwan if indeed on the agenda is political self-interest.

There is a school of thought in the media that Nancy Pelosi star is on the wane. It is some 25 years since former house speaker Newt Gingrich visited, and politically, times have drastically changed.

US government recognises “One China Policy” and wasted little time stating the fact. More to the point Nancy Pelosi is not one for buttoning her lip, and had diplomatic by-pass decades ago.

Nancy Pelosi is the proverbial loose cannon.

Joe Biden has clearly stated “The military thinks it’s not a good idea right now.”

I am all for giving the Government of China a size 12 up the backside, at least get one war over with before provoking another.

No one in the United States going to fight over an island 80 miles off China's coast. Despite all the propaganda you hear, 80 miles from China is a lost cause, sorry but not sorry.

The Chinese do not dictate whom American leaders meet with or when and where they meet.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

As an American,I tired of Foreigner, hiding behind the skirts of the US, China is not a priority for the average American, most of American would not hesitate to confront a Chinese official

Lol, as American…lol

The use has about 750 foreign military bases in 2022. No need to exaggerate.

Be certain you count the US Space Command base in Greenland! Clearly that is a huge target for all the people there (total population is 56,000).

These U.S foreign bases contribute to nations’ relationships with defense and to prevent important trade choke points from being closed by unfriendly nations. Bases can only be set up by mutual agreement.

There is a US Coast Guard based in Singapore, so Ms. Pelosi should definitely visit there. The visit to Malaysia is a bit different (no US military there), but if they invite her, fine. US Senators and especially the Speaker of the House have a duty of foreign relations.

If Prez Joe dies (or steps down), Pelosi will become Vice Prez until the next election. If the Democrats were smart, they'd have Joe step down next year (after Jan 20th) to get Kamala Harris 2 years of experiences as President before the next election. A sitting President running for office is hard to beat in an election, unless they are a total screw up. Kamala isn't a screw up, just not experienced.

The US has a 2-term, 10-yr, limit that a person can be President, hence the need to wait until next year, so the Democrats are most likely to have the Presidency for the longest period. I don't worry about Ms. Harris as VP/President, but Pelosi as VP scares me. As VP, she will have little power, it will shake up the House leadership, and I'll be praying for the health and safety of Ms. Harris, big time. Pelosi as President REALLY scares me, but she probably is in the 2nd worse place as Speaker of the House now.

The Fu,the President pick the VP in case the office is vacant, the President nominate the VP to be voted by the majority of both houses

Pelosi has been to China one time in her life in 2015.

I, and many others in business, have been there more times than we can count, starting in 1981 for me.

If you ask an American who rates their patriotism as 10 on a 1-10 scale, they would not compare to the 15 that most Chinese rate their patriotism.

She is the wrong person at the wrong time to visit Taiwan. It is going to be an incredibly bad idea. You better hold on to your hat. It could be the worst decision in your lifetime. You didn’t make it, but you’re goi g to pay for it.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Peter, how do people rate the hell, they living in China,in a pretty high scale

Google some photos of Shanghai or Guangzhou.

It’s an unfinished Civil War. They’re taking a long break and developing their societies instead of going to war against each other. Let them sort it out peacefully.

Lincoln got the Union forces to wage war on the Confederates when the latter tried to secede. Had he not would the US still have been held together?

Lincoln was a war-monger who should have made the Union more attractive and hospitable for the Confederate States, avoiding the Civil War altogether.

I have family there and have visited many times. Do not confuse a love of China with any affection for their government. Most Chinese hate the CCP and openly mock Xi Jinping when they think they can get away with it. Most would dearly love to be rid of the CCP and have a government like that of Taiwan.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The Chinese have painted themselves into a corner with their increasingly shrill rhetoric. They are not going to start a war over the visit of a Congressional delegation. Remember there are a lot more members of Congress going than just Ms. Pelosi. There is literally nothing China can do that won't look foolish afterwards.

Google some photos of Shanghai or Guangzhou

I know Shanghai well. It is China's hippest and most fashionable city. Still, there isn't enough money in the world to convince to live like that, 24 million souls, the population of Australia or Southern California crammed into an area less than half the size of Los Angeles County. Ok to visit, great food but not a fit place for human habitation, but a great example of why China's total fertility rate is so low.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

They are not going to start a war over the visit of a Congressional delegation.

China is not going to shoot down a plane carrying a US delegation. They are not fools.

Anything that happens to Taiwan and US China trade relations will take place after Pelosi leaves the island and the delegation returns to the US.

I can’t see her not going now. This is a lose lose lose situation for all three sides.

The Chinese will dictate where they want people in this admin to go. Let's see if Nancy will go to Taiwan or if she's scared.

https://www.factcheck.org/2008/04/replacing-the-vice-president/ show that Yrral is mostly correct.

25th Amendment clarifies:

25th Amendment: Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Thanks! I'll sleep better knowing that Ms. Pelosi isn't likely to become Prez.

Yrral

The Fu,the President pick the VP in case the office is vacant, the President nominate the VP to be voted by the majority of both houses

The Speaker of the House only becomes President if both the President and Vice President are unable to perform their duties before the replacement VP has been confirmed and sworn in.

If you ask an American who rates their patriotism as 10 on a 1-10 scale, they would not compare to the 15 that most Chinese rate their patriotism.

The CCP effectively mandates patriotism starting at a young age and spends significant classroom time teaching it with true and false history. https://hongkongfp.com/2015/08/30/as-the-communist-party-wages-a-war-on-history-it-would-do-well-to-examine-its-own/

The CCP played almost no part in the crafting of the modern World Order that has endured for seventy years. For the modern day CCP leadership there are uncomfortable truths that fly in direct contradiction to the image they now wish to portray as an heir to the Chinese civilisation and benign leader and protector of the global status-quo.

Students in the US may spend about 1 minute a day in schools for smaller kids on patriotism by encouraging students to pledge allegiance to the flag daily. For me, this ended around age 11. Schools just didn't have the daily pledge where I lived. Since a 1943 SCOTUS ruling, students can legally choose not the participate and should not be punished for inaction. Overzealous school leaders and parents often get confused and try to force their beliefs on others (common around the world, right?), which has lead to more lawsuits when schools try to make the Pledge mandatory. This seldom has the impact the school leaders desire. Instead of having 1 student refusing, that student's friends often join and there are 10+ refusing.

The government of Singapore is only slightly less oppressive than that of the PRC. The PAP is the CCP without genocide and the degree of internet interference one finds in China.
