When Pen e comes back, he will be able to tell Trump's aides Seoul is not North Korean Capital. And he can assist Trump. He will visit a very important Australia. The travel plan seems well planned.
OssanAmerica
Well with Pence going to visit South Korea we know there isn't going to be ant preemptive attack.

Maybe an opportunity for Vice President Pence to put forward a face saving diplomatic settlement, Kim Jong Un can come away boosting he stood toe to toe with what many political analysts consider the last remaining genuine super power.
President Trump can sail his Carrier battle group up and down, back and forth, around in circles in a global display of one up-manship completely missing the point he has managed to make President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping actually appear positively statesmanlike.
Whilst Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe can remain acting like he hasn't a care in the world, stopping ever so often to look across the Sea of Japan to tut and shake his head in solemn disapproval.
Of course, the lid could pop off at any time if Kim Jong Un proceeds with another nuclear test. I wonder sometimes if future political leaders are hatched in some laboratory to test human natures instincts to survive.
Strangerland
There's no such thing as a preemptive attack. That's just a euphemism for starting a war.
OssanAmerica
No there is such a thing as preemptive attack. It is defined as "An attack initiated on the basis of incontrovertible evidence that an enemy attack is imminent.". Whether it is merely a euphemism for starting a war is your personal opinion, undoubtedly based on an ethical point of view.

Strangerland, I think your standpoint from the moral high ground is commendable. Unfortunate human nature is not subordinate to opinions or policies that define superiority from any ethical stand point. Are we instead, witnessing a crude but brutal form of amoral natural selection on a wider global scale?
Strangerland
Which is a nice way of saying 'starting a war'.
That's an excuse that people use to justify doing things that are inherently wrong.
Sorry, I don't buy it.

There are no details. Trump has the brain of an 8-year-old and he is POTUS. All the people around him are making it up as they go along.
Pence will talk. Pence will act as though there's substance to US foreign policy. But there is none.
Strangerland
No opinion about it. It's fact. Attack a country, you start a war. Any other way of saying it is just a nice way of saying 'starting a war'.
Using euphemisms as a justification for starting a war is derailment.

OssanAmerica - if you want to get Strangerland off a thread real quick to keep it with adults, ask him about his love of Filipina sex trade victims and the troubles he admitted to in Thailand.
Works every time!

Pence will smooth interim S Korean Gov't. Then he may have to. visit Seoul again for newly elected government again. There is no gov't until after May Ele.ction
OssanAmerica
Wrong, We just carried out a preemptive attack on a Syrian airfield. Neither the U.S. consider theselves "at War" with each other..
"Thanks for the derailment."
Read my original post. No one is justifying anything.

Wherever USA began war, these countries are still in war.
