Aso has dinner with Beat Takeshi

Prime Minister Taro Aso met comedian-film director Takeshi Kitano at a Japanese restaurant on Thursday night, TV Asahi reported Friday.

Kitano, who hosts a political debate program on TV Asahi, reportedly had a one-hour discussion with Aso. The report, however, says what they discussed is unknown, and neither Aso nor his staff have confirmed the meeting.

Aso: "How can I be popular, like you?"

I hope Aso enjoyed his meal with both of them.

They probably discussed who would be the last one to fall.

Both of them were probably wondering out loud how they can become popular again

Beat Takeshi was probably just researching how to artistically present the modern day senile and corrupt Japanese politician for his next movie.

Aso probably just wanted to talk about manga. Either way, I feel sorry for Beat Takeshi on this one... he got the short end of THAT stick.

I always thought Beat Takeshi ran Japan...

...and bill was paid by....? Don't know if Takeshi is interested in Diet Seat.

Aso was afraid of being taken for a doddering old man again, so he had a photo op with a recognizable celeb. Who's also a doddering old man.

Is this worth the news, JT?

You should read some of Beat Takeshi's column in the J XXX Weekly. Sexist as they come, a bully and a sadist too from what I have seen of him over the years.

Birds of a feather..., IMHO.

did he hit him over the head with his Plastic hammer like he always does in his TV-show?

I hope Beat Takeshi gave him an earful about what a bad job he's doing, and THEN hit him in the head with the plastic hammer. PEEP!

I hope Sanma appeared with his plastic hammer and beat them both on the head. That would have really made for a meaningful dinner.

this really is scraping the bottom of the barrel for news.

"At a Japanese restaurant". Wow. That's like in Three Amigos when Chevy Chase asked the Mexican lady of the house if they had anything besides Mexican food.

Beat Takeshi is an amazing actor!

Maybe when I go to Japan, he will have dinner with me! (Although, it will have to be something cheap...)

Beat Takeshi is not only an amazing actor, comedian but also quite a good movie director! I would love to be in one of his next movies, you know being the "typical gaijin" eating sushi somewhere in Tokyo etc...

I always thought Beat Takeshi ran Japan...

He ought to run the country -- a thinking man with imagination, a sense of individuality, creativity and drive.
