Car crash certainly a metaphor for his prime ministership.

Tact that a car could get next to PM's car tells you it was no motorcade, Japan is very safe indeed, Tottori very sleepy local place with great onsens and seafood I might add, and skiing/snowboarding at Mt. Daisan is SOLID!

Even his driver is incompetent.

Yep, definitely needs a new driver, just read the article. Well, that's not a good sign, need to have the "right" people place if one expects lead effectively. Bad for the image as well, but better than a 'train-wreck'!

An interesting read, but the article does not delve into who was at fault and the legal issues. While we can all safely assume the police are at fault due to incompetence and brazen disregard for traffic rules and safety, we can also assume the blame and insurance payments will be assumed by the car carrying our leader. Thank goodness he wasn't killed or seriously injured. Japan needs him in office, not in a cemetery.

Bad Brakes I say, LOL.
Get shaken done one more time

Perhaps his driver assumed the car in front would just go through the first few seconds of the red light, like the vast majority of people in this country. This is what you get for driving behind a police car.
Fighto!
Lots of real insensitive comments. Very regrettable.
Shocking news. We all hope Ishiba is OK - as well as his driver and all of the entourage in the motorcade.

It's just more proof of the 'clown car' PM is all, we have a PM who couldn't find his way out of a paper bag etc.
That said, I hope the new PM succeeds in MJGA!

We don't know what happened, but I'd wage money - well a little - on kohakuebisu's suggestion.
Driver sees the light change orange (or amber or yellow) and never gives a thought about braking as most drivers think the same.
Almost no-one believes orange means brake and to not accelerate.
And the police officer driving in front - well he's got the country's leader behind him - he's leading the leader - so there's no way in the world he's not coming to an immediate halt when the lights flick to orange.
Consequently the citizen driver behind just isn't switched onto the moment and drives as he always does and most of Japan.
Green is Go; Orange is Go Faster; Early Red is Go Very Fast; Late Red is Stop.

Had a nice bonenkai in Yonago with Air Self Defense staff from Miho Air Base.
