About the disputed islands, I don't understand why all the Countries involved in this and other similar situations, can't find some kind of agree for a shared and fair exploitation. I guess they prefer bickering for ever, it's more convenient for their political agenda.

Alex, exactly!

The South's presidential office also invited one of women forced into sexual slavery for Japanese troops during the World War II to Tuesday's meal, where she was introduced to Trump, who hugged her

You'd think she had had enough already!

Well done, Japan! See what causing a carfuffle over another nation's actions brings about? MORE interest in it! They need to know when to just ignore things and let them lie. Now you're going to get more and more orders, and an increased presence by South Koreans, as well as increased security if Japan tries to infringe on Korea's sovereign territory.

I'm waiting for the Senkaku-shrimp! Japan is acting just like South Korea against China in the Senkaku-dispute.

Strikebreaker555: "Japan is acting just like South Korea against China in the Senkaku-dispute."

Not in this case, but certainly in many others; including some demanding South Korea go to the ICJ but saying it is "not an issue" at all with the Senkakus for the exact same reasons (minus living on them) that SK says Dokdo is theirs.

Regardless, Japan sure did bring this issue to the forefront once again by getting all riled up about it. SK can just laugh as this and the comfort women issue get more press as a result.

South Korea DOES whine about everything. They whined that Trump was staying in Japan longer than in South Korea on this trip.

SK would go ballistic if Japan named a dish to be served to the POTUS, 'Sea of Japan Catch of the Day'. But Japan isn't petty like the South Koreans are. These things, like Trump's behavior, are done more out of spite than anything else.

Exactly! They would be frothing in their mouths screaming and coming on this site crying about atrocities!!!

There's no point dealing with them since they have no intention of resolving anything they bring an issue up against Japan. They can't even uphold an international agreement and bring up irrelevant analogies thinking it will bolster their claims.

Truth be told, and let's face it......Trump couldn't care less about "Comfort Women" or the "Takeshima/Dokdo" dispute. So while it looks silly and inappropriate for SK to bring up these issues at this occasion, it seems even more pointless in light of who the POTUS happens to be at this time.

Japan should give up all claims on Takeshima and let the Republic of Korea have their Dokdo. The Liancourt Rocks should not be a continuing source of friction. Japan has bigger problems than possession of these rocks.

YuriOtaniToday 04:04 am JST Japan should give up all claims on Takeshima and let the Republic of Korea have their Dokdo.

Ridiculous. What would Japan gain by doing so? Do you think that South Korea will drop their anti-Japan agenda? Actually live up to the 2015 Comfort Women Agreement?

When the Syngman Rhee line was unilaterally drawn in 1952 to include Takeshima, it was the United States, alarmed at South Korea's behavior, that urged Japan to take the matter to the ICJ. That was the first time that SKorea refused. It has refused two further times since then. If SKorea truly believed they are in the right, there is no reason at all to not settle the dispute at the ICJ. Only a person afraid of losing refuses to settle a dispute in a court.

Not exactly the same since Japan is accepting the compulsory jurisdiction. Have China or Taiwan asked Japan to settle Senkaku Island dispute in ICJ? Hasn't Japan asked Russia to settle Kuril Islands dispute in ICJ before? Look it up.

Regardless, Japan sure did bring this issue to the forefront once again by getting all riled up about it. SK can just laugh as this and the comfort women issue get more press as a result.

Not sure why Koreans think it's completely ok to negate the international agreement.... this is not the first time you know?
