What legal ground or enforcement, yes I support sanction, but not stupidity

Those countries trying to punish Russia have only ended up punishing themselves. Russia can sell their gas , oil, wheat, fertilizers, minerals, rare metals etc., to other friendly nations whose populations far exceed those of the west and Europe.

What is so important about Ukraine for Japan ?

What is so important about Ukraine for Japan ?

You seem surprised that nations as well as people are appalled by Russia's invasion of Ukraine, along with the slaughter of civilians.

What is so important about Russia for vic.m that allows you to excuse this?

-9 ( +7 / -16 )

when clown have no idea what he is talking about...Russia will sell at price they want to sell and they will not care your empty talk...

11 ( +16 / -5 )

Let's be very clear on this it is only the West countries, partially Japan and South Korea. That have sanctions on Russia fewer than 40 out of 195 countries.

So unless the western countries are ready to commit piracy which will result in retaliation Russian and Panamanian oil tankers as well as other countries not participating in the Sanctions will be free to do as they please.

Panama as these rest of central and south america are not part of the Sanctions (only French Guiana) no African country, no middle East county no Asian countries other than Japan and South Korea.

So for the most part it is a White European only sanctions system.

Less rich countries will take advantage of the western countries not buying the oil and again unless the USA, EU, UK and Japan are ready to commit piracy, there are enough non sanction countries oil tankers for Russia to use.

Japan have imposed sanctions against Russia as per US order.

now Japan believe that Russia will care about some remarks about oil prices?

what a bizarre world we live in!

11 ( +15 / -4 )

unfortunately this will likely further increase inflation as Russia will simply say no to selling their oil at half price and will go to the highest bidder else where in Asia, more oil for India and China to buy! So much for free market economy when they put so much state control on prices…

11 ( +13 / -2 )

I can understand this for natural gas, because the pipeline to sell it goes to Europe and does not go to another place. This means Europe has some control over the price. The same gas cannot be converted to LNG and sold elsewhere, because that would need new facilities that take years to build.

Is there a pipeline for oil from Russia to Japan? If it is coming on ships, the same ships can go to another place with a higher bidder. Japan will have little to no say over the price.

If course seeing the west did/does nothing for similar conflicts going on now in now White European countries!

Oh as for:

nations as well as people are appalled

Only Europe and a few former white dominated former colonies care, the other nearly 7 Billion people don't.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

Oh, thank God!

What would we do without sanctions?!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Hot air as the people of Ukraine continue to suffer and the countries opposed to Russia do everything they can to prolong the conflict and to engage in useless sanctions.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

We must not allow a sanctions gap!

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Russia coward aggression against Ukraine is totally unacceptable and has to pay high prices and penalties to make it clear to Putin and China that there is no advantage at all to start military attacks against any territories. Diplomatic channels must be the civilized way to discuss, debate instead of promoting deaths and destruction.

Money is money and the Russians are awash in oil. Every cent going to Russia is financing its war against Ukraine. It’s all blood money regardless of a 50% discount on oil.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

What if Russia stops exports for lack of price conformity?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Kishida and Abe and Aso seem hell bent on destroying Japanese economy and returning back to the Edo Period.

I can’t imagine fulling my car with petrol, and telling the staff I will only pay half the cost because of US stealing oil, Iraq, Syria and Libya human tragedy, to obtain this oil. The gas stand would phone the police and demand full payment.

Now replace Russian with Saudi Arabia (USA) and Ukraine with Yemen.

Not so important if we do that!

The three-day summit in southern Germany among leaders from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States plus the European Union took place as the months-long war, along with rising inflation and shortages in energy and food, tests the unity of the leading democracies.

Notice the list, all Basically European and the only reason they care so much about Ukraine.

Of the biggest democracy in the world India isn't on board.

India alone has more people than all the sanction participating countries put together.

This is just another European problem, like WW1 and WW2 but this time all the former colonies are not buying in, well all except USA Canada, Australia and New Zealand, seems these 4 cannot drop their colonial leashes

I thought trading/buying is about buyers happy, sellers happy??? There is another system? where you are/can force your seller to sell you something you need at a price, that is only acceptable to you???? Perhaps, its part of a comedy routine??? Or, just hot air for headlines??

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So delusional lol. actually puting this naive idea in motion perfectly explains why Russia is winning not only the war but also the economic war.

It's hard for Putin to lose when his enemies are all bunch of highschoolers

3 ( +6 / -3 )

What this means is that they (whoever they are) will be sanctioning whoever buys oil from Russia above the set price.

Agree.

EU should take the lead stopping buying oil and gas completely from Russia

Ok if blood oil is not good so shouldn't the EU etc....also stop buying Saudi oil?

Of course. Goes without saying.

And if the situation with Saudi/Yemen is similar/comparable to Russia/ Ukraine, as you say, then they should also similarly sanction Saudi Arabia

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Actually they should sanction themselves for invading Iraq alone

4 ( +5 / -1 )

EU should take the lead stopping buying oil and gas completely from Russia

The problem with that is that German industry runs on Russian gas as does much of the rest of Europe.

That's why European nations are sending Russia more than ONE BILLION EUROS everyday ( converted into Rubles) for the gas. Which really makes this call for a price limit on oil sales hilarious.

They want China and India to only pay half price while THEY are paying full price and in Rubles....

I can just imagine the side splitting laughter in Beijing and New Delhi over this.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

China is a very happy to buy Russian oil if Japan refused to pay a higher price! When a friend is in need is a brother indeed. Japan is neither Russia or China's friend!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I can just imagine the side splitting laughter in Beijing and New Delhi over this.

They're probably hoping Putin and Xi will get a heart attack laughing so hard

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This is just stupid beyond words.

Look, the Saudis are our friends and have been since Roosevelt met King Abdulaziz Ibn Saud on Bitter Lake in 1945. The Russians are our enemies; Ukrainians are white Christians and therefore worthy victims, but nobody cares about the Yemenis because they are unworthy victims, being poor, brown and Muslim.

Only one gets sanctions and daily news while the other just goes on killing as of nothing matters.

And you clearly would like that to continue as you keep dismissing it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

They said they just won't sell any oil to any customers who won't pay a price the Russians agree with.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

In the first 5 months of this year, the Russian economy GREW by 0.5%. Russia ad countries not imposing sanctions on Russia are the only economies still growing.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The top Russian importing Oil countries are:

China, Germany, NED, US, Pol, SK, Belgium, Turkey, France, UK.

China already imports about 50% of all Russian exported oil. All the other countries would follow the agreement on price caps for the other 50% of Russian oil sold. Smaller users who aren't part of the agreement just won't be able to use more oil at current prices, so any drop will help them.

Of course, Russia can choose to stop selling any oil at lower prices too, but that will drastically impact the Russian-oil-centric economy and their ability to fund military stuff.

The other top importing nations are generally in Europe, so they will be part of the EU price cap. Summer is the best time to get this started.
