Tachibana focuses on single issue, to 'crush' NHK

This guy is great. He’s probably the most honest man in Japanese politics, and his agenda is something we can support.

If "crushing" NHK is all you got, then you got nothing. It's called the "off" switch.

I like this guy. He doesn't really have any other policies, but I like that NHK has to read his party name whenever they interview him on their channel!

Despite its name, the anti-NHK party has to date never done anything meaningful to fulfill its "single issue" goal. What they have done is a series of harassment against people not even affiliated with NHK. Tachibana, charged with many criminal counts, has declared and brag himself as anti-social. As the former NHK employee being fired, he holds a personal grudge, having nothing to do with serious motive for NHK reform. He reminds us of lower class of Donald Trump.

That’s factually incorrect. People that have tuners that can receive tv signals must pay. That is the law. No tuner- no NHK fee responsibility.

I personally manage quite well and am within the law, without a tuner or fee.

The “crush NHK” manifesto is a publicity ploy. Tachibana has slyly absorbed outcasts and populists from other parties in a bid to grab more diet seats and raise his legitimacy.

Inform the public or spread anti gaijin propaganda, because the few shows I have seen on NHK always seem to have the bad guy being some gaijin. As for not having a TV I don't what do I need a TV for? This is 2020 nothing on TV I cannot get faster cheaper on the internet, why would I care to numb my brain on by watching Japanese say nothing news or rinse repeat the same story with different talento dramas. I love Japan but the TV here is not worth watching so no point in having a TV. Even my wife and children haven't watched Japanese TV in years so when the last TV broke we tossed it and never got another one that was over 8 years ago.

Oh how I would love this guy to succeed! NHK is the pain in my..... I don't have a TV never watch it but they keep coming around even drag an English speaker to try a make me pay. The last time was last week again told them no TV, they countered with you have a computer so you can get NHK on that then rent on that my smartphone counts as a TV told then no because it is not Japanese and doesn't have that feature so they see my car and say the gps navigation system has a TV so that counts at that point I nearly lost it. I blew up to the point my wife told them to go before I did something they and I would regret. They are parasites!

Yeah, I never really did like these one issue parties or candidates.

And I’m not an expert on the NHK, but from what I’m gathering, you only have to pay a fee if you have a tuner on your TV. So if you don’t have a tuner or don’t even have a TV, then I would assume that you don’t have to pay? Doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal if you ask me, especially considering that’s public broadcasting. Public as in the public is supposed to finance it.

NHK produces drivel.

I get their "International" chanel on my cable, and although the local news is a little useful, the rest, is pure 1950's drivel - it's like stepping back 50 - 60 years and watching Movie reel program of that era.

For National Emergencies - yes, they do display Government agency alerts - but so to, do the likes of the Commercial stations... so whats different ?

Anyway, as a Foreigner, I have no say in the way this country is run, no matter whether I am a permanent resident or not.... I fall into the non-democratic populace category (just do as instructed, a bit like China).

Tachibana has failed to fulfill his agenda or election promises, suffering a defeat after another in local election levels. Popular support for his party has fallen down to the ground. His election strategy makes little sense. He's an underdog and trickster.

Well local gaijin, you should pay anyway because NHK doesn't get tax revenue, they need out help staying in business to inform the public on important issues. Just pay anyway ok? And I don't believe you don't have a tv.
