No deal is progress as the TPP is a another regressive so-called "free" trade agreement that will continue to erode the rights of workers and citizens that people fought decades to establish.

As long as we go on without clarifying what's progressed and checking it, "progress but no deal" will continue forever.

Hmmm, the USA seems to push for the TPP real hard and yet others aren't so sold on the idea. Considering who's interests the TPP will better serve, is it any wonder that Japan and other countries might not be so keen on the idea of giving more power and control to markets that already have too much?

We really should stop talking about how this trade deal benefits one country or another country and talk more about which specific groups it will benefit within or beyond national borders. If we consider research by Martin Gilens and Benjamin Page of Princeton University, which shows that only the opinions and wishes of the wealthy are reflected in public policy in the US, we can conclude that the TPP is being pushed so hard by the US trade delegation because it will benefit the economic elite, not the workers and average citizens. Abe and most of his corporate friends are also in favour of the agreement, again not because it will benefit Japanese workers and citizens. The main reason his administration has not quickly signed on is because of the traditional ties between the LDP and rural voters tied to agriculture.

There should be No reason for a tpp. The entire thing is based on eliminating tariffs and other restrictions put on free people so politicians and their sycophants can skim, scam, control and benefit only themselves. It is a simple effort remove all restrictions on free trade, free people, all of it, especially labor. The only reason for this tpp is so politicians can claim they promoted free trade But in fact are only finding new hidden ways, to actually skim, scam and control. Every problem on earth from war to recessions to racism to socialism to restriction freedom to causing people to stay poor is entirely caused by the political class. Trade tariffs are just one example of a tool used by the political class to empower themselves at the expense of people

That is what they want - to be able to recycle the same story over and over again.

well, i will say it better to create rather than to destroy things. tpp is a new creation, new architecture mean't for the new age. and of course, it will be interesting to c how destructive it will be as most pple seems to be fearful about (in case it goes through).
