I'm almost certain the rebound is attributed to a "Well, there's less protesting now, so I guess he sorted it out somehow" mentality in a lot of people.

He's done nothing of note in the short time since he plowed through with his unpopular security legislation. I'd like to see a poll on how many people are actually paying attention someday.

Very surprised to see his popularity rebound.

His latest "growth" focus package looks like rubbish to me. I even saw a (serious) suggestion on the news this morning from one economist that there were elements in the latest "stimulus" package that would remove people's long-term concerns about the future...

Is there something wrong with my coffee, or do I need to switch to Kool-Aid?

Not so swift are you. Read the percentages and you'll see they don't support your claims.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

1,365 hardly a majority. I can imagine that most of these households were selected specifically and not at random.

Today we give thanks to overtly dramatic poses and raised index fingers.

And you read the head-line:

As I suspected, you didn't read the numbers.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Wow, do you really not know what a percentage is?

You're claim was that the Japanese people support Abe. The reality:

support for Abe had rebounded eight points from October to 49%

And:

A similarly sized weekend poll by Kyodo News agency meanwhile said Abe’s approval rating rose 3.5 points to 48.3%

Not even half of Japanese people support Abe.

As I said, your claims aren't supported by the numbers. But it appears that your claim only came from reading the article title, and not the actual numbers in the article.

You don't like it, your opinion is irrelevant; conversely, the Japainse love him so much they keep on re-electing the git, no matter what.

Garbage. Only 52.7% of the voters turned out for the last election, and the LDP only got 48.1% of the single seat votes and 33.11% of the PR block votes. Virtually everyone with an informed opinion on the topic acknowledges that Abe wins because while he might only be a third rate non-entity the other options are all fourth rate non-entities. If you think that's love you must have a very odd notion of it.

This only confirms that which some always knew; only disgruntled JT gaijin, (disenfranchised anyway) hate the geezer.

Proper Japainese seem to want nothing else.

Good on them; in Japain, Japainese MUST/SHOULD come first. ALWAYS!!!

Disgruntled JT armchair experts’ better pack up and get back to where they really belong.

Abe is going nowhere.

Public support for Abe rebounds after security law

Are people really that stupid?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

No, only reminding yer, and all other Gaijin of what you are.

I also love the fact that I live in my own country.

And that Abe does what he and many Japainese want, pissing off the gaijin contingent in the process.

you are a Gaijin in Japain. I am not.

You are still a gaijin in the eyes of the Japanese, wherever you're posting from, let's refresh everyone's memory shall we. Hot shot city kid who lives in docklands with his fit Japanese model girlfriend.

Or are you pretending to be Japanese now? Troll.

“Garbage. Only 52.7% of the voters turned out for the last election, and the LDP only got 48.1% of the single seat votes and 33.11% of the PR block votes. Well, your post is the actual garbage.

Because this "only 10 people bothered to vote", yada, yada, yada is a recurrent on this board, I hope the Mod(s) allow for a clarification (which I hope will be final); I feel Strangelandly enlightened today and as such will freely part with some info, for which other people pay me (and the firm I represent) lots of "Nelson's".

An election is akin to a Company's shareholder's meeting to, e.g. change Co.’s articles/name.

Changing a Co.’s name requires a SR (Special Resolution); SR's require a 75% vote of all those PRESENT AND VOTING!

Therefore, if you are a shareholder, the Co Directors call up a GM and you, because you think of yerself as the sexiest creature on this planet, don't bother to show up, or show up and can't be "assed" to vote, those shareholders who actually bothered to show up and vote will make the decision for you!!!

If you don't like the result, you'll be left with your filthy, disgusting thumb to suck on only.

And the same reasoning applies to any election; only those voters who voted matter; even if only 1 person votes, his decision will bind all of the sexy ones, like you, and who thought highly of themselves.

Trust moi on this, I did not have to check Wiki.

I get paid so much for this that don’t have to come to Japain and be under the thumb, like most moaning Gaijin on this board. And I still get me fresh sushi and natto, in bed.

marcelito

The voters here are just hopeless, extremely short memory and extremely easily swayed by a few empty promises and headlines. Of course , having the opposition in complete disarray with no alternative to Shinzo does not help either.

So what should voters do then? Don't vote. OK I got it. BS

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The vast majority of Japanese people I know, (and I know alot) both hate and fear Abe. I don't know where this 49% comes from.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So much interested in who and what party majority posters here would vote for, if they all have voting rights

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

I don't know Abe is liked by most Japanese ppl but I'm sure he isn't disliked by most Japanese ppl. The way I see it, he is disliked mainly by lefties and Gaikokujins here in Japantoday.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Abe is the best man for the job,,,i love this guy

"Maybe you didn't read the numbers"

I actually did; and don't think I'll need yer help to interpret them.

How many people do have to be surveyed in order to satisfy your Excellency???

That's the nature of polls, enne?

Do they have to ask the entire Japainese populace (certainly you'll not qualify) for you to be happy that Abe's rating is not up???

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

And you read the head-line:

"Public support for Abe rebounds after security law"

All in black and white; even a blind person could see it.

You don't like it, your opinion is irrelevant; conversely, the Japainse love him so much they keep on re-electing the git, no matter what.

I have a Japainese laying down right here; she's happy.
