Japan has a lot invested in this, opening new markets and paying more to local farmers to help digest competition. My grandchildren who have to pay for it, hopefully they will have freedom of choice for foods, cars, products. Maybe offsetting the massive tax bill, a huge thanks to the LDP for that.

Oh you mean the "free trade" agreement that Japan "augmented" to protect their farmers? No wonder the US wisely ditched it. Japan would not know what free trade is if it bit them on the nose

Free trade Ha ha ha ha there is no such thing

TPP will never work for truly free trade.
TPP members are already squabbling among themselves.
US trade agreements for the US should be one on one.

Don't do it Canada. This is not good for you.
Neither of these 2 great nations or Australia are going to benefit from this at all. It would be wise for Canada, Australia and New Zealand to ditch this disastrous deal, and set up a REAL FTA between themselves and the UK which is in great need of something like that after Brexit, along with a open borders agreement. CANZUK is something they can do immediately, and for the good of all the citizens of these 4 countries. TPP is a disaster. Canada, OZ, and NZ do not need it.
Of course. Because Japan is getting its cake and eating it too.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Can only happen if the U.K leaves the E.U. Its all starting to look a bit shaky in that regard. If Labor wins could even see a reversal. I believe the U.K would be better off inside the European Union anyway. Canada, N.Z and Australia can't compete with what Germany, France, Italy and the E.U as a whole can offer, not even on the same planet. Not to mention, that many projections would see the U.K overtake Germany as the largest economy in the E.U if they stuck around, which meant they could have had a greater say, if only they were willing to see the long term....Another case of short termism in the Anglosphere unfortunately.
Still, i like the idea of CANZUK, even if it is very poor imitation of the E.U
