That's precisely why no country wanted to colonize Japan.

Besides USA Military has had nuclear weapons in Japan since Japan surrendered in the defeat of the last world war.

People used to say the same thing about Reagan, who was at the time the oldest US President. He also travelled a lot and had dialogue with Gorbachev during his second term, all but ending the Cold War on a peaceful note. The US media made a circus when George H W Bush went to Japan with the flu and barfed on the table. That was hammered by the TV networks for a week, and it wasn't funny at all.

LBNL, Pope Francis is nearly always on a Church mission to 'tend the flock' so to speak and he is over 80 years old. As it's sometimes said, Age ain't nothin' but a number.

Biden is handling a lot these days so Japan doesn't have to.

The author of this piece should enlarge this ^^^ sentence to highlight the fact when the Quad formed originally American Exceptionalism was strong and the quad partners see it as the foundation of the partnership. The partners didn't know that America would abandon it so carelessly.
