As I'm sure Li expressed his opinions about Japan's military build up.

Talking. It's a start, and better than sabre rattling.

Why would they even bother? Kishida and Yoon express their ‘concerns’ about military aggression, and then request lifting of seafood bans.
Yi goes back to China in some ridiculous game of theatre to report to Master Xi, who didn’t need to grace them with his actual presence, because why would he right? Then Xi gets to flatly deny all requests and carries on doing the same, looking bad a@# to his minions.
Bravo Japan and South Korea you have just been played. Dialog with these jokers is futile. In their minds they are calling the shots and it’s as simple as that. The rest is all kabuki unfortunately. Meaningless.

If it were not for China's massive military build up which dwarfs that of other neighbors combined with their unilateral aggressive territorial behavior in blatant disregard of International laws and rulings, Japan would still have no reason to build up it's military.
Just about every nation in the region is a potential victim of China's expansionist greed and should use every opportunity to openly speak out against it.

OssanAmerica:
why does it sounds like almost every nation despise US and victim on war-mongers in US?
Ex: enabling dictatorship/destroying working Govts/Loot of resources. etc etc
OssanAmerica
The US remains the nation with he largest military in the world. But the majority of nations on the planet are not concerned because the U.S. does not use it's force to bully and intimidate other countries for the purpose of it's own territorial expansion.
China does. And Russia is certainly doing it now.
Most nations see the US military force as protection from aggression from autocracies. The U.S. seeks alliances, not domination.
OssanAmerica
They don't. You are believing a false narrative.
Russia, China, North Korea and Iran do not constitute "almost every country".
TaiwanIsNotChina
Said no one outside of China/Russia/Iran ever.
Andy
China has every right to carry out military exercises within it's territorial boundaries. Unlike the RS of the USA who continue to threaten, illegally invade, supply weapons to rogue states and claim the riches of sovereign countries.
TaiwanIsNotChina
China's territorial waters and contiguous zone only include 44km from its coast and to pretend like the Senkakus and Taiwan produce such zones for China invites WW3.
TaiwanIsNotChina
It's team China/Russia that has the worst invasion Europe has seen in 75 years going on.
OssanAmerica
The U.S. is not an active participant in Gaza. Try to stay on topic.
ian
So it's okay for the US to bully intimidate invade other countries and murder its people so long as it's not for territorial expansion?
OKuniyoshi
When Russia went to Cuba, America's back yard, military tension built up, the world was threatened with nuclear war.
TaiwanIsNotChina
And the US was forced to recognize that Cuba would be completely independent. Tell the whole story.
TaiwanIsNotChina
Considering territory is forever, yes, that is a major distinction. Also the only illegal war was Iraq.
Kuku
What can you say about US in Iraq? Evidently it's totally different:))))) it's bulling and intimidation without the purpose of its own territorial expansion? Monstrous ignorance...

"He is a fool, but an honest fool" Gandalf LOTR
USA: $916 billion, 3.4% GDP
China: $296 billion, 1.7% GDP
The USA outspends China 3:1 and also spends double in terms of GDP while at the same time maintaining 800 foreign military bases, yet, China is the aggressive country? Oh, don't forget the USA bombings on every continent not named Australia and Antartica over the past few decades.
isabelle
No, it doesn't. You're talking about official "data with Chinese characteristics" here. That is, lies.
The real figure is certainly much higher: around $700B has been quoted, which is close to the US figure (I've only seen bdugets in the $800B range, not your $900B range).
https://www.aei.org/foreign-and-defense-policy/setting-the-record-straight-on-beijings-actual-military-spending/
And the usage of China's budget is, unlike the US, completely opaque, and the build-up far faster. Furthermore, the US isn't illegally occupying other nations' waters or borders, or threatening to annex peaceful countries like Taiwan.
All the US's bases are there legally at the request of the host nations. China's bases in the South China Sea, for instance, are 100% illegal. That's the difference.
The US's past conduct has absolutely no bearing on China's current aggression. Do US misadventures in places like Iraq give China license to steal the Philippines' territory, for instance? Of course not.
Yes, it is.

NED has entered the chat. Sling a few more NYT and Washington Post articles to "prove" you assertions.
American Enterprise Institute, Board of Directors include Dick Cheney (oof). "American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is a conservative think tank that has received funding from the Koch Foundation and other Koch-connected donors along with the fossil fuel industry. It has a history of peddling misleading research about the effects of minimum wage increases and denying the scientific reality of climate change." Media Matters

As I've said to you before: just because you don't like the content, it doesn't mean it's not true.
Funny how the pro-CCP mob gets all agitated when something doesn't adhere to Xi Jinping Thought.
TaiwanIsNotChina
The only fool is one believing Chinese figures.
OssanAmerica
If Taiwan is "part of China" then why hasn't the Chinese PLA countered what could only be called an invasion from China's point of view?
