I'll be first in line to find everything wrong with Abe's leadership. However, I never wish ill on anyone, and his condition seems quite harsh. He made the right choice to step down. Focus on your health and live a nice and quiet retirement. Hope he has many years left, but enjoying it with his family peacefully.

Abe spent a significant amount of time jetsetting around the world playing statesman when he should have been working on the issues that were relevant to the people in Japan.

Abe relieves his stress by going abroad. The virus grounding him may have added to the stress, worsening his condition. Either way, no need to kick a man while he's down.

Japan's Abe to step down as leader due to weak health:

A long service premier, Abe has finally succumbed to his health. For the past few years, he has been deeply distressed by his failed Abenomics while his nation's lackluster economy continues to slide down, slowly but surely. 

Hope that his successor will show sincere friendliness to the neighboring countries, particularly in this unusual and defining time for the benefit of everyone..

As with all politicians Abe had all sorts of problems and issues. And he declared some goals which he could not fulfill in these 8 years, But having watched J-PMs since the 1960s, Abe did more than most . Frankly I didn't expect him to be able to fill Koizumi's shoes. I will remember his address to the US Congress which received a standing ovation. And visits to both Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima together with the POTUS. While this JT board has been a cesspool of anti-Abe comments for years, some directed at Abe and others simply as the usual general anti-JP wumao/vanker propaganda, American will remember Shinzo Abe as a PM who furthered the US/JPN alliance.

During pandemic outbreak, he had faced some his scandals since this year, ended up dealing with cumulative claims from opposition parties. He couldn’t explain them properly. Which might’ve made his impelling force weaken

Everyone can say what they will about Abe's policies..but good luck finding someone as balanced and somewhat reasonable as him as his successor. Maybe an extreme nationalistic and regressive policy under Aso will make everyone happy.

Philippine Foreign Secretary Teddy Locsin said on Twitter that Abe is a "very good friend of the Philippines" and a "close personal friend" of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Abe was after all an "obocchan" a person born with a silver spoon. He resigned two times prime minister for his health reasons. He preferred his health to the destiny of the nation. He lacks samurai spirit.

Funny how the the only friend Abe has in the world used an aid or someone to comment.

i suspect all the other comments come from countries that jet setter Abe gave our tax money to in Aid.

He is/was a japanese PM. Theyre not known for doing much of anything. Abe will be vaguy remembered If at all as the longest serving PM. Thats about it.
