Sounds as if Lavrov is aiming to agitate Kim's tension and paranoia, increase the number of flashpoints around the world, and deflect attention away from the dire situation in Ukraine.

21 ( +27 / -6 )

Trying to deflect attention much there Lav-baby!

20 ( +26 / -6 )

Preparing for war seems prudent given Russia’s recent actions.

15 ( +24 / -9 )

he said countries that told others how to live for half a millennium and believe they are “masters of the universe”

Projection much?

ignore that the overwhelming majority of ex-colonies and are now independent and want to buttress their, cultural and religious identity.

Uhhh… U…Ukraine??

These ex colonial states are “leaving the West behind,”

Projection… U… Ukraine?

Lavrov accuses U.S., S Korea and Japan of preparing for war with N Korea

No more than Russia is preparing for war with NATO.

Being prepared for conflict is the the reason for having a military, arming it and training it.

Everyone gets ready but few initiate, as Russia has in Ukraine. As North Korea did when it invaded the South when ruled by Kim's grandfather.

Given Kim recently made known that war was inevitable, it is common sense that its neighbors prepare for "Kim's war".

Why did he not mention that NK is preparing to start a war in the region? That seems much more news worthy.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

Says the mouthpiece for the country that started a war in Feb 2022 and scrood itself so much that it has to go begging to North Korea for ammo. Vlad, throw him a milkbone.

18 ( +23 / -5 )

Lavrov said it right. Sit down and don’t twitch. your time of hegemony is over. Now countries want to live independently and not dance to someone else’s tune. It’s none of your business, don’t interfere, and if you are oppressed, then defend your honor and state.

-16 ( +6 / -22 )

This is rich coming from a country that just invaded another country.

14 ( +20 / -6 )

This must be a message to the DPRK leader who is just a maneuverable piece in the game for Russia. As Hitler was keen on diverting US attention and resources to the Pacific to avoid its participation in the war in Europe, Russia is instigating tension in Far East to further reduce Ukraine's weight in US policy. So we should take and act.

“You shouldn’t just think that you’re so strong just because you have the dollar.” is the party line. I am curious where Lavrov has been is hiding his asset in Dollar?

These ex colonial states are “leaving the West behind,” pointing to the BRICS economic bloc of developing economies that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. countries.

Sounds like some of our spam posters.

Lavrov said it right. Sit down and don’t twitch. your time of hegemony is over.

Russia's time of hegemony ended in 1991.

Now countries want to live independently and not dance to someone else’s tune. It’s none of your business, don’t interfere, and if you are oppressed, then defend your honor and state.

So Ukraine should defend its honor and state. Got it.

Why the long face, Lavrov?

The most warlike nation on earth is your own, fascist Russia - invading a sovereign nation and killing children, women and men like the cowards the Russians are. Lavrov and Putin's downfall will ultimately come.

10 ( +16 / -6 )

So speaks the mouth of Putin, the war monger.

Lavrov and Kremlin: fix your own nation's many problems, before you and your fellow authoritarian states start another war.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

That photo shows one seriously grumpy grunt. Perfect for Russia's foreign policy.

11 ( +14 / -3 )

Lavrov is in New York. Notice the press conference (bottom photo) is well attended because he has things of substance to say. He really kicked some spectacular goals with non aligned countries and Russia won some well deserved plaudits for their recent massive grain shipments to Africa (which the western media have pretty much ignored and including some that have alleviated famine). While he is largely responsible for effectively checkmating the western attempt to diplomatically isolate the RF, part of the credit has to go to the collective west itself.

The "masters of the universe" he refers to is this collective west, which has a neo-colonialist, unipolar mentality, that is increasingly out of sync with a diverse, multipolar world. The Ukraine and the spiralling middle east conflicts, including the western hypocrisy of action that underpins the latter in contrast to the former, are key factors in speeding along this polar transition, not to mention preventing the diplomatic (and economic) isolation of the RF.

He said all this and more in his press conference and took questions, as opposed to western diplomats who give rehearsed lines from a recycled B-movie we've all seen before. Worth watching.

Well, you are definitely very far away and thinking in the past. 1991 was the Soviet Union and not Russia. But now Russia is not the same thing. So come down from heaven to earth, the world is changing before your eyes, everyone who needs to know about you already knows well. Therefore diplomats

everyone is warned not to interfere in other people's affairs of countries that are resolving their own internal disputes and problems

Why the long face, Lavrov?

The most warlike nation on earth is your own, fascist Russia - invading a sovereign nation and killing children, women and men like the cowards the Russians are. Lavrov and Putin's downfall will ultimately come.

The Ukrainian regime will be disarmed; the Nazis will be captured. The Kiev terrorist regime of government will be destroyed to the ground. If you don't like it, I'll ask you to go out the door.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

KISHIDA tease NK and Russia intentionally to trigger the WAR.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Lavrov also lashed out at the French government - which has the temp chairmanship of the UNSC. Russia called for an emergency and immediate hearing on the circumstances of the POW plane shot down by Ukraine; France blocked the measure and delayed it (will be delayed for at least 3 days, by which time there will be a cover story in place).

This has shades of April 22 and Bucha, when the chair of the UNSC - then the UK - inexplicably prevented an immediate session while they coordinated a media strategy to falsely blame Russia for that provocation.

Lavrov explicitly stated this at his press conference. They re trying to hoodwink everyone yet again.

-15 ( +0 / -15 )

Lavrov is trying to persuade Kim to attack first, to swamp the US, SK and Japan before China and Russia start the actual war.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Lol…like they / he has any “Room to Talk”.

They’re murdering civilians in Ukraine every day.

Looks like they sacrificed Russian pilots to kill 76 Ukranian POW’s ?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Preparing for war with NK? What a load of nonsense. What facts does he have to support this - none. It makes me think he is trying to stoke tensions in the region hoping to get NK and China more on board with supporting Russia with sales of arms and munitions. Open lies and misinformation are part of Russia's proaganda war on the West.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

PseudonymouseToday  08:54 pm JST

No !

Ukraine can't defend itself so we have been helping them.

Get your facts straight !

how can you help? Only here chat real things are done on the battlefield. The most the West has helped Ukraine with is to give them weapons from which Ukraine is now on fire. “Your” help prolonged the conflict for many years.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

“Your” help prolonged the conflict for many years.

Kind of the point. Without that help, Russia would have overrun Ukraine already. Or been much closer to it at least.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

JJE,

what eloquently written posts. Don’t think the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson could have done it any better.

well done, “patriot.”

7 ( +8 / -1 )

When a neighbor becomes more aggressive and builds up their weapons, NOT preparing for war would be stupid. Additionally, falling for a lie - you know - like "we aren't going to invade Ukraine" the DAY BEFORE they invade - would be stupid to believe as well.

2021 Nov. 12 – Peskov described media reports of Moscow’s plans to invade Ukraine as a “hollow and unfounded attempt to incite tensions.” “Russia doesn’t threaten anyone. The movement of troops on our territory shouldn’t be a cause for anyone’s concern,”

2021 Nov. 21 – “This hysteria is being artificially whipped up. We are being accused of some kind of unusual military activity on our territory by those who have brought in their armed forces from across the ocean,”

2021 Nov. 22 – In a report headlined “Kremlin: Russia is not going to attack anyone,” Pravda quotes Peskov as telling reporters: “Russia does not harbor any aggressive plans. It is completely wrong to say the opposite, and it is completely wrong to associate any movement of the Russian Armed Forces across the territory of our country with such plans. This is not true.”

2021 Nov. 26 – Peskov denied Russia’s involvement. “Russia has never had any plans to take part. Russia generally never engages in such matters,” Peskov said.

2021 Nov. 28 – Russian officials accused the United States of waging a propaganda campaign. “Russia has never hatched, is not hatching and will never hatch any plans to attack anyone,” Peskov said. “Russia is a peaceful country, which is interested in good relations with its neighbors.”

2021 Dec 1 Blinken warned that Russia could use the conflict in eastern Ukraine as a pretext for invading Ukraine. “The Russian playbook is to claim provocation for something that they were planning to do all along,” Blinken said.

There are similar Russian misdirection attempts, all lies, on Dec 2, 3, 11, 12, 31, and all though out January - February 2022.

Finally,

2022 Feb. 24 – Russia launches a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In a conference call with reporters, Peskov said it was “unacceptable” to describe Russia as an occupying force in Ukraine — despite Russia’s widespread attacks against Ukraine’s cities and military bases.

We've been burned too many times since 2014 by Russian misdirection claims to believe anything they say. https://www.factcheck.org/2022/02/russian-rhetoric-ahead-of-attack-against-ukraine-deny-deflect-mislead/

The more Russia denies anything, the more likely it is true or will happen shortly.

It appears that Mr. Lavrov head is getting as big as the narratives he is trying to push.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Lavrov said the objective of the military bloc is clearly stated: “They’re preparing for war with the DPRK

The biggest 'well, duh!' statement of the week (so far, at least). The Lavrovtory outdid himself this time.

Since Fat Boy and his evil entourage threatens everyone in the tme zone with attack whenever he feels like it, it would be foolish to ignore an anticipated attack.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

We can expect to hear much more from Fat Boy for the rest of the year, as he tries to distracts his hungry people from what will happen to them for the rest of the year.

Which sounds pretty grim.

Yesterday, His Great Rotundness told the 19th Enlarged Meeting of the ruling party that they must find ways to get food and other staples to the starving masses, since it is now a "serious political issue." Plus he needs everyone there to "close the gaps" between the hungry urban areas and the starving rural areas.

Fatboy was blunt: "The overall regional economy is in a terrible situation without elementary conditions and there are severe imbalances and huge gaps between regions in terms of their geographical circumstances, economic potential and living circumstances."

His gurgling continued: "We should not sit by and wait till the situation and conditions turn favourable but find more jobs to be faithful to our duty for the sake of the people."

Meaning? We await even MORE threats from the Ultimate Poster Boy for Gluttony with large scale military attack . . . unless . . . well, perhaps . . . the world gets him out of the mess he and his family created for themselves and their long-suffering people. Aka, Fat Boy wants money and food as a price for peace . . . this month. [Thanks Reuters].

You probably trust Kirby. This Kir does not know how to express himself other than using jelly on water. But he can squeez out tears, suffering for the Israelis or the Palestinians, he himself doesn’t know who is dearer to him! Lavrov speaks Russian perfectly! He doesn't have a single extra word. All commas and interjections are placed strictly in place. And he masters it without a prompter! You simply do not have diplomats of this level. Everything he said at the press conference was extremely clear and clearly expressed. Shez vous there is no qualified translators. That is why. He doesn't trust him! Who are you?

Lavrov can speak his native language perfectly you say? I guess that is something. Nobody needs a translator for him because they know he only regurgitates what Putin tells him, often after the invasion has started.

The crime took place on Russian soil so there will be no accurate reporting on it. The key is to deny Russia any sort of platform from which to spread its lies. If nothing else, they can spread them after the facts that are known are ascertained.

Russia's certainly preparing their preferred proxies, NK and Iran for war. They've taken notes regarding Ukraine.

NK and Iran are being massively enabled with all their good nonconventional military capabilities, US NATO UKRAINE PROXY WAR, naturally the Catalyst.

Makes sense from Russian perspective, peace thru strength. Attacking Russia, NK or Iran makes LESS sense than ever for the West, unless we seek Armagedón.

The nonstop gaslighting in western media is beyond the pale, never seen anything like it. Crazy times indeed.

It's really just unelected special interests in 1600 pursuing their post USSR nonstop destabilization of Russia agenda via Ukrainian proxies.

It's real reason Ukraine's population today about half of 1990. Apparently, many Ukrainians don't appreciate western elites stoking Russian hatred = TOO RISKY

UN's well documented paper trail of Ukraine matter, Russian Ukrainians seeking their independence for cause etc. Real reason Russia's so popular within BRICS, why it's growing fast with most of global south set to join etc.

Uncle Sam's destabilization NOT NEEDED, world has optionality, de-dollarization underway. Below spot on.
