this is really getting bad stop escalating World War
Clay
Agreed, people Globally, ESPECIALLY Europe, terrified of US NATO Ukraine Proxy War escalation into nuclear.
Let's hope deployment of these tactical nukes by Russia acts as a deterrent to further escalation into nuclear.
Experts agree Ukraine cannot win war of attrition, conventional war with Russia and Ukraine's now clearly losing this conflict. Makes potential for US NATO WMD proliferation to Ukraine much greater, likely why Russia's acting pre-emptively with tactical nuke deployment.

China isn't everyone and Russia isn't anyone.
So NATO's nuclear posture is completely unchanged, Russia is moving nukes into Belarus, and your statement is NATO is escalating. That's some head spinning logic there.
Nothing is impossible with how poorly Russia's armed forces have performed.
Nope sorry, potential does not warned a pre-emptive response.

Nobody is scared of the midget from Moscow after all of his faceplants lately. That's why Finland joined NATO without a second thought about what he thinks. And it is still Putin's war.
Welcome to the 1960s.
Sorry, something from the 1960s is not a destabilization we haven't been living with all of our lives. The global south isn't a monolith and to the extent some countries back China it is because they don't like democracy.

Welcome to the 1960s."
Plenty of nukes deployed by US in Europe in 2020,s, thanks very much.

People are increasingly scared Globally about nuclear escalation regarding US NATO Ukraine Proxy War. That includes us here in Japan and me in particular!
Especially now, as it's becoming clear to military experts that Ukraine cannot win a conventional war, even with NATO arms, support etc., but NO NATO combat forces.
Global Fear of Nuclear escalation based on polling and their trends, across world, but especially in Europe, where greatest risk resides. No poll exists where fear of nuclear escalation is decreasing, ALL are Increasing.
wallace
No one I know in Japan, including myself has expressed concerns over nuclear weapons other than wanting to see them banned which I also agree with.
BAN THE BOMB.
Peter14
Um what? Complete fabrication that means absolutely nothing as it is a fantasy. Globally people worry about Russian threats to unleash nuclear weapons in its fight against Ukraine. Both India and China have already communicated their objection to Russian nuclear threats, to Moscow.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine to expand Russian borders and eradicate Ukraine, has nothing to do with anyone else. Both sides are being supplied weapons from third countries.
There is no proxy war going on but that is the smoke screen Russia trots out to defend the indefensible invasion. Intelligent people can see the truth through Russia's smoke and mirrors lies.
Clay
Problem today is Ukraine has no pathway to win with current conventional war tactics, being supplied by NATO and US. This is consensus expert opinion.
Given above military situation for Ukraine, any ability to 'win' this conflict will require nonconventional weapons. Furthermore, Ukraine being destroyed and depopulated, adding further pressure & incentive to try to 'win' quickly
That's DANGER today - WMD escalation, nothing bogus or fabricated, happy to provide polling data to back it up.
Certainly, all those following this conflict understand the risks of nuclear are increasing. To believe otherwise would be entirely foolish and naive.
Peter14
Yeah because polls of ordinary people will always give an accurate military accounting of whats going on. Not!
When Putin grows tired of ruling Russia and living, he may launch nukes. But the assumption must always be that he wants to continue living and doing so in luxury in a Russia not decimated by nuclear weapons. He will threaten, but he wont use. Because he enjoys living too much.
Clay
Agreed that ordinary people and polling is not directly relevant but disagree in that I think most people when it comes to matters of survival are very thoughtful.
But to your point, REAL risk is US NATO proliferation of WMDs to Ukraine. Especially since Ukraine not doing well militarily now. That's what could trigger ensuing madness = nuclear pre-emptive strike by Russian.
Russia's Former President Medvedev and current #2 has said so publicly SEVERAL times in Last Week. Not reading any lines, Russia stated position's pre-emptively nuclear strike if WMD proliferation to Ukraine occurs.

Russia and North Korea sound the same. Amazing!

I'm talking about the radioactive cloud that formed over Ukraine after the Russians bombed the weapons depots in Khmelnytsky. The cloud has gone to the west, to Moldova and Poland. What will these countries do with the harvest? Now eat your apples yourselves. Russia won't buy it... and Europe hardly will do ..obviously GB, that has sent depleted uranium to Ukraine
Peter14
That is ridiculous. There is zero possibility of any nuclear nation giving such weapons to Ukraine or anyone else. Fearmongering on such a level may get traction in Russia and China, but no serious individual is going to agree with your assertion. It has never happened in 75 years and it wont happen now as doing so would take the world and those giving the weapons, into the hands of a nation already invaded and with little to lose in using them. Many in the world are willing to help Ukraine defend itself but they are not willing to have their nations destroyed in nuclear armageddon for them. A little common sense would go well in your arguments.
Rodney
Britain is already using them in Ukraine against civilians and Russian Soldiers

I watch that video that mushroom cloud was enormous I and Ukraine lost a billions of NATO provided ammunition and depleted uranium. You wouldn't get a mushroom cloud like that from bombing a airplane.

My bad !! It’s actually 400B$$. At least they should have a sense of shame, or ethics. Tears, blood and wounds should heal first before gorging themselves silly .

And imagine supporting the invasion that is leading to all this massive investment in Ukraine!
The more you invade, the more you'll have to pay!
Wanna save a few $$?
Easy, get out of Ukraine (and Portugal).

The "free world" is not any more free than Russia.

Did Vlad tell his Vatniks to tell us that?
Try telling everyone in Russia that it isn't very free, and see how quickly they prove you right.

Clay writes about his concerns of US NATO nuclear proliferation to Ukraine, but doesn't mention (or maybe doesn't know) that Ukraine was a defacto nuclear power after the break up of the Soviet Union.
Ukraine agreed to give up their nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees.
US wants less nuclear weapons, not more.
Looking at US actions in terms of these past negotiations with Ukraine (and south Africa, Japan, south Korea and so on) proves that America will not proliferate weapons of mass destruction to other countries.
ClippetyClop
I'll regret bothering with you, but go on. What other weapons?

Well let's see, I believe there was one dude killed recently. And I think another dude last year? How Russia going to build a monument for it's 20k dead or take care of its 200k injured?

Yep, still informative. I can step outside of my house and shout pretty much whatever I want without government thugs hauling me away.

And this is all what you want? Is it an only diffence? It's may be strange but I have never had such a wish:)))))
In Russia I have never seen such shouting idiots outside my house:))) It might be about you and not the government?

Putin has said (on more than one occasion)that the use of nuclear weapons won’t be a factor unless Russia is being threatened with destruction.
This article is scaremongering and inaccurate…

How many Russians have been imprisoned by Putin for expressing their opposition to his war?
Kuku
The same question: How many? Tell us. Only please don't tell about 15 yo girl with a picture. We all know the story. That story finished fine. Something new, one or a dozen sories.
The second question: In Britain all the prisons are empty? Some time ago I saw a short video in English taken in Britain(may be, but exactly not in Russia) where two opponents were comparing imprisoners in Rus and in Britain. 1:10 was the answer not for Britain. In Britain there are being imprisoned much more people for an opinion. I don't really know who to believe:)))))))
ian
This bud's for you!
wallace
People in Britain are imprisoned for crimes not for expressing freedom of speech. There is no freedom of the press in Russia just the state-controlled channels.
The current government of Russia maintains laws and practices that make it difficult for directors of mass-media outlets to carry out independent policies. These laws and practices also hinder the ability of journalists to access sources of information and to work without outside pressure.
Dozhd (Rain), the only independent TV channel, came under increasing pressure in 2014.

Tens of thousands of Russians were arrested for their war opposition.
One million Russians are in prisons and are now used as recruits for the Ukraine war.
https://ridl.io/lies-damn-lies-and-statistics-how-many-prisoners-has-wagner-really-recruited/
The incarceration rate in Russia, calculated as the prison population per 100 thousand people, was observed at 328.1 on January 31, 2021.
The incarceration rate is 136 people per 100,000 in England and Wales; 134 people per 100,000 in Scotland; 88 people per 100,000 in Northern Ireland. Too many people are in prisons in the UK.

I have 900 TV channels.. Really, you know for sure that all of them are controlled? What a nightmare!
wallace
Television is the most popular medium in Russia, with 74% of the population watching national television channels routinely and 59% routinely watching regional channels. There are 3300 television channels in total.
3 channels have a nationwide outreach (over 90% coverage of the Russian territory): Channel One, Russia-1 and NTV.
How many are free from government interference?
The three main federal channels, Channel One and Russia TV, and NTV, are controlled by the government.

Depleted Uranium tank rounds are not WMD's. Your blatant lie to sow fear into uninformed people is typical of Russian misinformation. One wonders why such obvious lies are even bothered with. Russian supporters again stooping to the lowest level to look for sympathy for Russia while it invades a peaceful neighbor to expand Russian borders and eradicate Ukraine as a nation.
And to suggest Britain is fighting Russia in Ukraine is another absurdity. False information is about all they have now to support this illegal invasion and mass murdering of Ukraine citizens.

Wrong on both accounts
ian
This from you Clay?
Haven't read sources you post although they seem good because I don't have time.
But I tend to agree with that statement because it seems quite some time now since I've seen any reports here in JT that can be construed as positive for Ukraine.
I mean things must be really bad if media in support cannot find anything at all to spin as positive.
But maybe there were/are I just wasn't here to see

Not very many in the last three decades. All of the ground launched nuclear Tomahawks and Pershing I/II missiles were withdrawn and destroyed under the terms of the INF treaty. With the introduction of the Trident missile the US no longer needed to deploy their SSBNs from Holy Loch and those were moved to a base in the US. The US Navy stoppled taking nuclear weapons to sea in the 1990s except for their Trident equipped SSBNs. The last nuclear Tomahawks were dismantled a decade or more ago. The US Navy long ago disposed of their last nuclear depth charges and nuclear ASROC rounds (the whole thought of having to drop a nuclear depth charge from an aching slow SH-3 helicopter was a real butt clencher for us Sea Pig pilots :/ ) The only US owned nuclear weapons left in Europe are some B-61 gravity bombs at a very small number of air bases in Germany, Italy and Turkey. The US nuclear posture in Europe is actually pretty small.

DU is what is left of uranium ore after the U-235 is removed during the enrichment process. It has a number of industrial / medical uses including use as trim counterweights on aircraft, radiation shielding for medical equipment and for the transport of radioactive materials, and even as a coloring agent in dental porcelain for false teeth.
