Three years ago Abe didn’t support President Obama who tried to carry out a military attack on Assad’s government in Syria. Putin appreciated it perhaps. Now again Abe rejected President Obama who asked Abe to refrain from visiting Russia in May. To appease Washington, Abe invited Ukraine President Poroshenko, but Abe doesn’t seem to be half as enthusiastic as he should be in isolating Russia.

Does "may" in "Abe may visit" mean Putin has given permission to visit?

Like Wc626 said, aint got a chance of getting those islands back. Abe is just using it as political tool to try and look strong and obviously falling to the right.

Russia ain't giving back those islands. Abe is wasting his time. The Russians play "hard ball."

Good news but Obama may forbid Mr Abe to visit Moscow.

Russian visit is presenting an important opportunity to both RUSSIA AND JAPAN to inject warmth and closeness in their mutual relations. It should be fully utilised by both the countries to solve the underlying contentious matters.
