This brave face by both nations will disappear once Abe opens his yap on the 70th anniversary of the war's end and his 'new apology' comes out.

It is arrogant of the Americans to think that they can make things all right between Korea and Japan. Actually lots of things are going fine between Japanese and Koreans in a lot of areas. At the top political level things are not great but they are not slapping each other right now either.
The big thing now is Abe Shinzo. He has an opportunity to be a great statesman and a chance to be the worst revisionist. Chances are he will be in between.

Koreans need to get theur big chip off their shoulder and face up to history, not the one they wrote as soon as Japan lost the war.The only way that is going to happen is if there is any courage in the South Korean leadership, which we havent seen in the past few years because Myn Bak was born in Japan and Park Gyun Hye's father was an Imperial Japanese Army officer diring WWII. Politicians like these have to rely on anti-Japan sentiment to keep their political enemies at bay. Only a South Korean leader free of any past connection to Japan and more concerned with the future of South Korea than prtotecting their personal politica position can change the "fixation" on history.

For some context, here is the headline from one of the featured stories on MSN today:
Like it or not, Abe and his band of nationalists must realize that this is not simply a regional issue and his stance is not scoring any points with the citizens of his closest ally. Who happen to foot the bill for much of Japan's collective defense.

Japan foots the bill for much of Japan's collective defense.

Ossan, I think you had a couple of typos. It should have read:
Only a Japanese leader free of any family connection to Japan's atrocities and more concerned with the future of Japan than prtotecting their personal political position/agenda can change the "fixation" on history.
Your welcome.
