If South Korea truly felt that it's position was accurate there would be no concern for ant kind of review by anyone. The conclusion would support South Korea's position. Only if one is afraid of the results of such a review would they be against a review.

In 1960, two lawmakers in the South Korean National Assembly called on the country’s leadership to train a supply of prostitutes for the allied military, to prevent them from spending their money in Japan instead.

Some surviving South Korean comfort wives have also sued the SK government for forcing them into prostitution with United States military personnel. Both South Korea and Japan should seek to reconcile past historical events and bring closure to the comfort wives issues.

Yeah, it seems destructive. The only position Korea could ever take on this problem is to press the Japanese for concessions, which is never the way to improve relations.

Nobody wants to improve relations. The only good relation there was was during the time when Korea needed to mimic Japan’s technology, Sanrio culture, Taiga drama, - - . Now they have leaned everything, and Japan is a business rival. Comfort women is a good topic for leading to say bye bye.

Shinzo Abe could not have said that without the understanding of USA. This the Koreans know well. So it’s a warning from USA, about Korea’s overly showy honeymoon merrymaking with China, such as, together forming a new monetary system to fundamentally challenge USA’s hegemony. Without USA and Japan’s military support, North South Korea will unite within a week with Kim as new president, and together a tributary of China.

It’s time to change course a bit, outwardly, little by little.

Strange, since no Koreans actually recall sighting of direct involvement of IJA in recruiting the comfort womens. No documents of it either.

This issue has nothing to do with anything other than Korea wanting something for Japan. If they gave two droplets about these old women they would have said something before they agreed to the 65' treaty.

It's the best relationship now for Japan with South Korea. Who wants to talk with somebody who only demand apology and money.

The thing that South Korea fails to understand is that the Comfort Women System, as well as all the other military brothel systems that existed before, during and after WWII, are all CRIMES AGAIST WOMEN. Aren't Comfort women, Sex Slaves, Military Prostitutes, whatever you want to call them used by men for sexual pleasure? Japanese soldiers are NOT the only ones who made use of the Comfort Stations. Customers included Korean soldiers and Chinese civilians working for the Japanese. There were an estimnated 240,000 Korean memn serbing in the Japanese military. The father of President "I hate Japan" Park was one of them as an Officer in the IJA. he US Army Report No.46 suggests that even Indian troops may have made use of them. Not that all the customers were MEN. To take what is an obvious crime against women and to turn it into a nationalist political issue is both misguided and deceitful.

It may seem a long time for Westerners, but 70 years is nothing to Asians. AND some of these victims, the women, are still alive. Don't try to sweep it under the mat and pretend it didn't happen. That's been going on for 70 years now. Even if it happened 700 years ago, it still means it happened.
