Jesus. Brainwashing at its worst.

“The South Korean side should show its sincerity,” he said in a NHK TV program aired Sunday, according to Kyodo News service. He said the agreement should be implemented regardless of leadership change as a “matter of credibility.” May be Abe san should show his sincerity and pay these poor woman the compensation thats owed to them, and what about an apology ?

Japan never had "sex slave deal" with SK. It was "comfort women deal". Nowhere in the deal says they were sex slaves. Japan apologized again because Japan was very tired with them.

Given that "immolate" means to "kill as a sacrifice" or to "destroy", if he's only "critical", he's doing well....
Cogito Ergo Sum
Self-imolation ....hopelessly exasperated to the point of no return. Could the 64 yr old monk have had an intimate personal or kin experience in the sex slave saga? And sees the Government of Korea's deal with the Japanese as the ultimate betrayal? Chinilpa/ Jiilpa ( Japanese sympathizers) sell-outs as some view President Park Geun-Hye ...by affiliation to his Japanese trained father?

It's sad that he thought this gesture would make any difference at all, and that he'll probably die because of it.

Japan has to ignore anything SK does. Own country has too many suicides every day. Never mind of Korean suicide.
lucabrasi
Apparently, he set himself on fire to call attention to President Park's various misdemeanours.
The comfort women issue was in no way his focus.

Maybe this will become a trend.

A monk should be clensed from the worldy politically motivated actions and promote peace. He brings shame to the title 'monk', may be a guy disguising as one.
Btw i can imagine among the worst ppl in this world r those who cant be able to forgive and move on.
the so called 'civic' group should be disbanded or illgalized for seeding instabily and disruption of peace not just in korea but all over the world.
If they hv money to build the statues n fund sarcastic musicals to bring back the hurt all over the world, i can imagine they can become a respectable body if they promote peace/efforts to aboid wars to prevent such mishaps from recurring with those money!

Speed: it's not brainwashing, it's just stupidity. The Chinese monks who do the same AGAINST the brainwashing Chinese government are protesting -- in some cases censorship. These people just take extremely dramatic methods to bring attention to something. It is ridiculous, and succeeds in little beyond costing them their lives.

Will the next president of U.S. will mediating the conflict between America's two most important Allies?

Just another proof that these people will be forever stuck in the past. Even when nations try to go ahead and move forward, they will not accept it no matter what. Including taking lives.

Who are "these people"? This is the only self-immolating monk I've seen do so, and it wasn't even over the comfort women to begin with -- just an 'easy' means to get his message heard. Stop generalizing, or are such people who do it in Japan "more proof they are stuck in the past and won't move forward"?

Yes, Smith. These people are stuck in the past and no, I'm not generalizing. People like this guy will never see reason or listen to anyone. I'm all for remembering the past but people like this guy only want to spread their hate and their secret agendas. And yes, the article says "over sex slave deal with Japan" so it is definitely related.

No publicity of this by in USA media,
