@SJ

What would you say about Chong Dae Hyup, Yoon Mi-Hyang, Lee Yong-soo?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

South Korea is the only country that can not escape from it's past, and they do so with historical revisionism on a government scale. If South Korea wants to move forward with the rest of the world, they can start by reinstating the "permanent and irreversible" 2015 Comfort Women Agreement, which they unilaterally ripped up after receiving an Apology and Money as they requested.

@kennyG

The entire world has been fooled by these crooks, Chong Dae Hyup , Lee Mee-Hyang and those symbols of fake victims like Lee Yong-Soo, Kil Wong-ok, and other Chong Dae Hyup puppets. Thy all deserve imprisonment for the rest of their lives regardless how old they are now. That is the justice South Korea should pursue

What can you say about those Taiwanese sex slaves?

Koreans are stuck in the past

I guess you misspelled "Japanese politicians" with Koreans.

To know why Japan can not escape from the past, I would recommend you the following book:

Your tenure is now being numbered, will end in less than a year.

To be replaced by another anti-Japan president.

Being labeled "pro-Japan" is a kiss of death in Korean politics, so only anti-Japan candidates can be elected.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

South Korean President Moon Jae In, who has recently sought to improve soured ties between the two countries, said soon after the ruling that he felt "a bit perplexed" by the decision.

Too late, Mr President. Your tenure is now being numbered, will end in less than a year. Aside from the (failed) anti-Japanese campaigns what exactly have you achieved for the last five year? The North has contiued to fool you despite cociliatory approaches from the Blue House. Another candle purge will come around the corner.

From what I learned in America and our history classes, Japan invaded S Korea. So kicking over the boiling pot will forever burn you for starting this unfortunate incident. Shame on you Japan for lighting the match of hate.

Hogwash. Schools in the US teach that Korea was annexed by Japan in 1910. This is a historical fact. The revisionism that Korea was "invaded" began only after 1990 and can not be historically substantiated.

11 ( +16 / -5 )

The "comfort women" are now in their 90's and will be gone soon. What will the Koreans use then to attack Japan? Its about time Korea got over its shame of being colonized.

This is also well known fact that 9 plaintiffs out of total 20 for this judgement on 4/21 have already received money from the 2015 CW agreement fund. It is just like not a few self-proclaimed victims received money both from Asian Women fund and the South Korean government. South Korean government has never disclosed the method of fact-finding/certification, and Chong Dae Hyup has always obstructed Japan from it's own fact-finding efforts. This is the reality of Korean Justice.

Japan lacking sincerely apologies to neighbours was the cause of why they were being grilled by neighbouring countries! Unlike Germany who is able to bear the punishment and humiliation of the crimes committed by the previous German regime! Actually the Federal Germany is irrelevant with the crimes done by Nazi Germany but they choose to bear that responsibility due to her higher moral! This is what Japan refusal to do!

@Michael Machida

Japan invaded S Korea.

You are forgetting to add North Korea as former victim of Imperial Japan.

In fact, North Korea wouldn't exist today if Imperial Japanese High command surrendered after the fall of Okinawa instead of hanging onto Operation Gyokusai, fight to the last man and woman.

"S Korea court to rule on 'comfort women' suit against Japan in April"

It's their right to do whatever they want to do in South Korea. Also, Japan has given S Korea a lot of money, however, if you choose to invade a country and do things that are less than kind, you will have to bare the response for the rest of humanity. The fault of any country is what initiated the bad relationship? Did S Korea invade Japan? No. From what I learned in America and our history classes, Japan invaded S Korea. So kicking over the boiling pot will forever burn you for starting this unfortunate incident. Shame on you Japan for lighting the match of hate.

@Samit Basu

Then you should never agree with what Japan's rightwing politicians are doing to Japan since you know too well on the details of the crimes of Imperial Japan, and why Japan's neighbors are eager to settle score by war.

"You're Korean. You should think this. How dare you think for yourself."

Typical indoctrinated Korean response.

12 ( +15 / -3 )

This time the plaintiffs are Chong Dae Hyup's puppets including Lee Yong-Soo, who are well known already for having been spewing lies all the time for these 30 years. Nonetheless Seoul central district courts, like the last time, would spend no time for facts-findings and keep disgracing the entire country in public. There's no fundamental difference in it's insanity btw North and South

@Mark

There are other countries besides South Korea and Japan.

The US is covered by the US-ROK GSOMIA, so the US will continue to receive real time radar data from Korea irrelevant of the fate of the GSOMIA between ROK and Japan.

So only Japan is affected by the Japan-ROK GSOMIA termination(No more radar feed from Korea, so Japan only gets to discover incoming ballistic missiles at terminal descending stage with its own radars), and all foreigners living on Japan.

@Samit Basu

And the end result is the impressive military might of the ROK, probably the only military power in East Asia able to defeat the PLA in one-on-one war. How did the ROK get there? They never forgot the past.

I'll take an average military over kids hating an entire country.

Only the Japanese lives are at risk due to radar feed cut off from Korea.

Sounds like South Korea is the pot calling the kettle black.

putting millions of lives at risk of nuclear war

When I was a child, my own parents and grandparents constantly reminded me what Japan did as if they happened yesterday.

South Korea doesn't deserve any more money after dissolving the fund set up by Japan itself and embezzling money meant for the comfort women last year.

Koreans are stuck in the past because they've been indoctrinated into hating Japan and victimizing themselves. They are the only people who will set themselves on fire at protests, refuse to refuel Japanese cars, harass a US diplomat for having a moustache similar to a Japanese general's, and try to put stickers in classrooms saying “This device was made by a war criminal”. They threatened to pull out of GSOMIA, putting millions of lives at risk of nuclear war, then lied about consulting the US. When I was a child, my own parents and grandparents constantly reminded me what Japan did as if they happened yesterday.

Instead of constantly demanding money from Japan, South Korea needs to look at itself and its culture of self-victimization.

13 ( +21 / -8 )

The outcome is obvious, Japan is guilty and is held liable for the forced conscription of comfort women by the Imperial Japanese military high command, and will be paid out from the escrow account holding the Japanese government's 2015 payment that Japanese government refused to take back following the dissolution of the comfort women foundation, as the money in the escrow account is legally considered Japanese government asset.
