The details of asset seizures are not yet known.

For there is virtually no tangible asset to seize within the Korean territory.

A ruling on a similar case was scheduled on Wednesday, but was canceled. The Seoul court said that it has

determined the case needs more review, and has set the next hearing for March 24.

So there is already a similar pending case in another Korean court.

If the gov't decides to appeal the case which is unlikely then the probability of losing is 150%.

If gov't adheres to its stance and does not appeal, the ruling will be confirmed and assets will be seized.

 1. SK got what they seek in 1965 - a monetary settlement - of $300 million ($2.5 billion in today's money) and

extended $200 million in low-interest loans.

 2. SK got what they seek fervently in 2015 - a formal apology from the Japanese gov't. . And to add to the somberness, about $9.3 million  was included as a compensation fund.

They revealed their true scheme that the end to all is afar. Unlike TPP or NAFTA, the 1965 Treaty and 2015 Agreement is "unnegotiable". To cancel an agreement settlement between 2 nation is unjustifiable especially if it was agreed upon by both parties in good faith without duress.

It's absolute extortion in disguise. What South Korean president Moon asking is a shot in the moon.

This is my whole sticking point on the issue. I believe that South Korea has valid complaints, and that Japan has not addressed them enough. However, Japan made a good-faith effort to work through the problem with Korea. An agreement was made, then Korea's new government threw away the old agreement, and never proposed anything in return. This indicates that they don't have any intention of resolving the issue, and only want to keep it around as political capital to use against Japan.

As you cannot resolve an issue with someone whom isn't willing to have the issue resolved, all you can do is move on and ignore them.

So South Korea gets to decide that Japan needs to pay whatever money they want them to pay. And if they don't pay, SK gets seize Japanese assets and that's totally fair in their books. But dare Japan take Korea out of their white list for privileged business clients and "OMG, how dare them (JP) be so unjust and unfair. Proof that they hate us to the core. Let's boycott everything Japan coz after all, we're only victims."

What a farce.

Nullify not one, but TWO official compensation and apology measures from the Japanese government in regards to the comfort women issue, and then pull some random judgement against the Japanese government. Who's to say the SK government won't renege on this one just like they did with the previous two and every other overture Japan has made towards South Korea? For anyone to insinuate that Japan hasn't 'done enough' has absolutely no clue as to what they are talking about.

By the way, whatever happened to the money that was funded by the Japanese government as part of the 2015 landmark funding to compensate comfort women? Besides the tens of thousands of dollars that were illegally skimmed off by a comfort women activist for her own personal use? No one ever knows what happened to that money.

And here the SK government has the audacity to extort more.

Biden and Obama was there in 2015 when the comfort woman deal was signed. They supported this idea and agreement.

I hear no comments from either of them on how South Korea will be hold accountable for breaking the deal in 2017, and now in 2021 trying to escalate the situation, seize Japanese assets if we don't open up the wallet again, and agree to further Korean demands.

Watch some SKorean news, they will tell you, unless we feel economic pain, no reason to stop the pressure on Japan.

Koreans are United in boycotting everything Japanese.

That's the response we need in return if we expect South Korea to change it's attitude towards Japan. They have to understand the consequences of hating Japan and using such policies to keep us devided will affect their economic bottom line and security.

Don't expect Japan to be there if North Korea attacks if you break this agreements would be my response to Moon. 1965 aggrement and 2015 are Final and Irreversible!

In September, Moon was dealt a blow when prosecutors brought embezzlement charges against a lawmaker in his ruling party, Yoon Mee-hyang, alleging she illegally diverted donations and government subsidies to a support group for comfort women when she was leading it.

Yoon has denied the charges in the case that came to light last year when a survivor of the wartime trafficking accused the group of raising funds to enrich itself and doing little to help women who were forced into sexual servitude.

Signed? A common farce of misinformation instigated by the Japanese government. No signed document exists as it was a form of a press conference held by a few delegates from Abe and Park administration. It was closer to a reality show of the Fox Channel of the US. Both cheated their own people.

I suspect Biden will cede Senkakku islands for China in exchange for Vietnamese peace in ASEAN (South China Sea issues), independence of Taiwan, and peace on the Korean peninsula.

China only needed access to the high seas for the dream of a naval superpower. The US will be probably content with that in exchange for free access into Chinese financial markets.

No. I call this is a political litmus test of Japanese strength, spearheaded by China. Both SK and China want to see if Japan has any retaliating power over the issues, and the USA is willing to intervene.

Apparently not, Japan didn't hurt SK much over the small trade war, and the USA remains largely silent.

I would not be happy if I were you on this.

China clearly tries to pull South Korea into its orbit. If the West loses SK into a unified Korean peninsula that is pro-China and pro-Russia, then Japan will be very miserable for a long time. The Dokdo crisis will only get worse when a unified Korea will start pirate-like activities across the seas around Japan in the same way that both China and Vietnam are doing in the SCS against Southeast Asian neighbors.

It's sad that the Japanese negotiated in good faith, and the Koreans agreed, then decided it was more advantageous to keep the current status as a political wedge against Japan, rather than make good-faith negotiations to come up with a solution.

Sad politics on the part of Korea. And I say this as someone who thinks that Japan has much to answer for. But Korea has made it clear they have no interest in actually coming to a solution. They care more about political clout than about the people of their nation.

South Korea is still obsessed with Japan's war crimes, yet they're ignoring the time North Korea bombed Yeonpyeong ten years ago or shot and burned a South Korean official last year, and they threatened to pull out of GSOMIA, putting millions of lives at risk of nuclear war. South Korea needs to get over Japan and get their priorities straight.
