Korea is like the jealous sibling that just insists on being as annoying as possible even though it reflects poorly on them.

The Liancourt Rocks are a symbol of anti-Japan nationalism. South Korea is so obsessed with them that people all over the country cheered when some athlete swam all the way there.

I once saw a video of some foreign exchange students being tricked into saying “Dokdo is Korean” in broken Korean.

Back when Trump talked to Kim Jong Un for the first time, South Korea cancelled its joint military drill with the U.S. along the border, yet it still did its regular drill on the rocks "in case of an invasion from Japan".

Just like its obsession with Japan, Korea’s obsession with the rocks is abnormal and pathetic.

Well, it's South Korea, well-known for its reasonable, gentlemanly political actions toward Japan.

One of the conditions for a country to be able to lay claim to a faraway island in the ocean is the "effective control" of it. 

That's the reason why China is busy building airfields on disputed islands in South China Sea. It must be for the same reason that South Korea is trying to turn Takeshima or Tokdo in Korean to a citadel and a sightseeing spot, and now make live streaming from there.

The fact is that Japan must react always against every these stupid actions of South Korea to claim it's sovereignty over Takeshima, or once you start ignoring these STUPID provocations, Int'l law would judge as if Japan gives it up. Although those Japan-haters always laughing at and treating Japan equally with this insane country, Japan is a victim being forced to get on every ridiculous actions from SK's BS. Japanese tourists are welcome at the Liancourt Rocks. No need to get special permit or anything, just record passport number at the Ferry terminal when buying ticket. As long as Japanese tourist doesn't bring banned item(aka the Rising Sun Flag or any display of "Takeshima is Japanese territory" banner) or is on the blacklist(Korean government keeps a black list of Japanese rightwingers likely to cause trouble), Japanese can enjoy Liancourt Rocks, assuming they are lucky enough to land. Like I said, landing is allowed only when weather permits, which is 30% of tour season days. If weather doesn't permit landing, the ferry will circle around the Liancourt Rocks slowly.

You can tell the sickness and stupidity of this country. As the poster above saying, the tour all depends on the weather conditions, you may be able to land on or may not, even may not approach to the rocks. What kind of venture is it? and the country is calling it a famous tourist spot even welcoming Japanese.

It is the Japanese government that urges Japanese citizens to not visit the Liancourt Rocks, as Japanese citizens visiting the Liancourt Rocks can be used as evidence of Korea sovereignty in any potential ICJ trial.

This is totally different from the Diaoyu Islands, where all Japanese civilians are banned from landing on them, or approach within 1 km from its coastline.

Japan knows moderation, or controlled claim not to provoke the counterpart further. Those Japan haters call it coward. Why not, Japan has been in fetters by UN, fabricated narratives, article 9, What more these morons expect Japan to do?

Japan officially announced territorial claim over Takeshima under the effective control of Iki-Toushi of Shimane prefecture in 1905. How the heck did Japan have to consider those belong to Korean province. It was Shimane prefecture.

The 1877 directive did not state those were Korean's territory at all and you have nothing to persuade ICJ to judge those are inherent territory of the dynasty on the peninsula.

Of course, there are some historical documents about that islands, also an official ministry division installed and working, and in Tokyo you can even visit a National Museum for Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty to learn more, or at the moment better comb through all their websites while still pandemic rules everywhere, that’s all very interesting and educative. Most will be of course about the Northern territories and fewer about the Senkaku island group, but Takeshima is surely covered too, although I haven’t checked it now. Dead wrong. The Allies offered the Northern Kuriles, because the 4 islands that constitute the Southern Kuriles did not fall under the allied definition of territory taken by war. The 4 islands were negotiated beteen Russia and Japan in 1855. Stalin deliberately broke the Allied declarations by invading and occupying the 4 islands after Japan had already announced unconditional surrender.

The Liancourt Rocks are a very popular tourist destination.

This inquiry(and hence the map) was simply kept together with the directive which Hosaka claimed it is Dajo-kan directive map. Of course Shimane prefecture correctly captured Riancourt Rocks along with Ulleung-do while Korea never did during the same days,

The confusion about 外一島 and all those namings of the islands including non-existent Argonaute island were all cleared up 3years later by official survey 1880 and Kitazawa Masanobu through 竹島考証　1881　which Yuji Hosaka and his ilk very conveniently ignored except only cherry picking.

Also South Korea's government sponsored worldwide available, foreigners targeted, English speaking TV channel "Arirang TV" is doing "Dokdo" reports every two hours or so. First capture the audience by K-pop, food, culture etc. and then throw in a few minutes of "Dokdo is Korea since ever and forever". It is a very easy and good working manipulating tool. All the weather forecasts concentrate at least a few seconds on "Dokdo" in the "East Sea".

Also Korean activists found a very simple way to sneak their POV into other publications like maps that are depending on Openstreetmap. Every island stone was named "Dokdo" there, even coming up with new flags like "Wrong name: Takeshima" even when that was for the Japanese language only. The Sea of Japan is hiddenly named "East Sea", so it doesn't appear like this at first on OSM but on other maps like Mapquest, when switched to satellite view it says "East Sea" prominently first. Those activists are very good and I miss a counterpart of that from Japan. South Korea really needs to be put in their place soon before it's completely getting out of hand.

Best thing to do now is ignoring this, otherwiese it will be on the news and people will of course check it out, seeing some superimpositioned text stating Korea's propaganda. No doubt the cameras will prominently be advertised wherever possible.

Someone needs to attach some explosives to those rocks and settle this.

According to South Korea, Korean medieval documents are replete with descriptions of Usan-do, which they claim is today's Liancourt Rocks (Take-shima/Dok-do). Japan, on the other hand, says Usan-do in the Korean medieval documents does not refer to Liancourt Rocks but to Jukdo or Ulleungdo or some imaginary island lying between the Korean Peninsula and Ulleungdo. 

So, there is a conflict in views about the island’s history between Japan and South Korea, for starters, and so its sovereignty status is certainly in the limbo.

What is your point? Dokdo IS a very famous tourist destination open for Koreans AND foreigners, only that travel slots are limited due to adverse weather and need to protect the island's ecosystem from overtourism. And even if it wasn't a tourist spot, Japan still wont get it back unless they want to face Korea's Navy, no matter how much Japanese nationalists whine and cry about it.
