Christ, the last Korean leader was bad enough. At least, this time, WYSIWYG.

If Yoon can continue his policies he can undo all the damage done by his NK/China appeasing predecessor. It's about time SK recognized who it's real friends and enemies are and acted in accordance with the country's best interests.

@OssanJapan

If Yoon can continue his policies

I am not sure what you are talking about. Yoon actually hasn't done anything and can't do anything that Kishida is demanding.

1) Forced labor trials are entirely out of Yoon's abilities. It's entirely decided at court and current trials are determining how much Japanese companies are liable, not if Japanese companies are liable. That decision was made by the Korean supreme court years ago.

2) Yoon cannot force comfort women to accept the agreement that they rejected. In Korea, comfort women themselves are the final arbiters of the comfort women agreement, not government.

3) Yoon cannot allow Fukushima food to be imported, because if he does, then you will see 1 million protesters calling for the ouster of Yoon. This already happened during the importation of US beef, and one thing Koreans are extremely good at is mass-protesting.

1) Kishida isn't demanding anything.

2) You have no credibility.

Supreme court is just supreme inside a sovereign nation wrt domestic matters, has no jurisdiction over other sovereign nations. If the president (THE TOP) of a sovereign nation cannot control your domestic legal power against other nations, tell us, who are to be invited from your country for international summit meetings, like this time ?

2) Yoon cannot force comfort women to accept the agreement that they rejected. In Korea, comfort women themselves are the final arbiters of the comfort women agreement, not government.

Not only Japan but also South Korean academia( like those visiting Germany to take down the statues erected by Korean cult over there ) knows enough by now that Lee Yong-Soo and all other old women are not sex slaves for IJA , that they were disgustingly forced to echo the fake narratives under the coach of Chong Dae Hyup. This comfort women issue would never be solved in your country until SK government and SK supreme court sincerely face sex slaves victims before/during/after Korean serving US/UN soldiers.

How further long you and Chong Dae Hyup wish to hang on such ridiculously fake narratives?

So tell us, The president of South Korea is not even able to correct wrongs done by the leader, NK's puppet,

of Chong Dae Hyup?

3) Yoon cannot allow Fukushima food to be imported, because if he does, then you will see 1 million protesters calling for the ouster of Yoon. This already happened during the importation of US beef, and one thing Koreans are extremely good at is mass-protesting.

Thanks for reminding the story that SK athletes sneaking into Tokyo Olympics food venue open 24 hours to satisfy themselves for competing.

Heck. South Korea, not just the president but all of citizen, should decide and announce, what the heck they want to do about unification of the peninsula.

@OssanJapan

1) Kishida isn't demanding anything.

To the contrary, Kishida made a long list of demands that are impossible to meet as the precondition of talks and improved relations, hence an improved relation as demanded by you is simply impossible unless Kishida drops his demands.

 If the president (THE TOP) of a sovereign nation cannot control your domestic legal power

The concept of separation of power may not be easily understood for someone living in Japan, but under the separation of powers practiced by most true democratic nations, the executive has absolutely no power over the decisions of judiciary, just like how Biden can't do anything about the Roe v Wade overturn by the Supreme Court in the US.

What most Japanese don't seem to understand is that Korea is a true fully democratic nation, unlike a one-party rule state like Japan and Russia.

This is what happened the last time the president tried to import food considered to be dangerous by public, and eventually the US surrendered to the protesters, promising to export only beef from cattle under the age of 30 months, before the onset of possible mad cow disease.

Fukushima food is considered to be 1000 times more dangerous than US beef, so imagine what would happen if Yoon announced the importation of Fukushima food; 1 million protesters out on the street calling for his removal from office and the opposition Democratic party with supermajority will gladly impeach Yoon.

You don't have to repeat the same excusing phrase Samit. That is US domestic issue. Supreme courts of true democratic nations would not overturn already-concluded international treaties/agreements by the executives. That is exceeding the branch authority. Besides, Supreme courts of true democratic nations would not conveniently ignore arbitration clause clearly stipulated in the treaties

Supreme courts of true democratic nations would not overturn

There is no overturning anything. Damages are specifically not included in the 1965 treaty, hence Japanese companies and individuals get no protection from damages claim.

Damages from what? You know it and stop relentlessly posting the point ambiguous to JT readers.]

Damages were covered as you can see from historical records of the dialogue( which SK had kept hiding this long) between 2 nations that spent such a long time to reach to the agreement.

Just a reminder, Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties clearly states coward subjective literal interpretation of the wordings of the treaty DOES NOT WORK. You know what I mean.

The peninsula is still the same as in 19 century. No change. Leave North alone as it's no worth referring to.. yet

South... Is this nation seriously willing to keep hopping around toward RUSSIA and CHINA and AMERICA?

Nah. You just can't . so make up your mind
