If LDP big shots elect Abe as LDP chair again, he will be P.M. Older LDP members don't want to be bossed by yakuzas.

But I am afraid Abe will. be P.M. one more time. Trade and economic crisis. Are there anyone who created economic guideline? Abenomic, Abe created. Unlike other politicians, he never fooled sexualy.

Best news this week!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

PM Abe is looking to be confident of winning the third term as leader of LDP in election to be held in September despite the concerted attacks launched by the Opposition parties and other vested people against him, when he visited Osaka Tenmangu Shrine on Friday.

Japanese wouldn't imagine to topple the govt by rallies because they respect election results.

These "rallies" have ZERO to do with election results. There hasn't been a Diet election in quite a while, and your inference that the people will not rally against Abe are TOTALLY off the mark.

Again, these protests have NOTHING to do with any elections, and everything to do with Abe screwing with the people's trust. THAT is what they are protesting about!

Nice try, but you are wrong.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Btw, Koizumi has his own agenda. He doesnt care about the people of japan anymore than Abe does.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Oldman, youre kidding right?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Impressive display of protests against the PM.

And as per usual, destroys the myth that Japanese citizens are apathetic and apolitical people, afraid to rise against the grain and publicly speak out against issues.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

PM Abe must continue, stay strong Prime Minister, we are counting on you!

You must mean, keep lying right? Right about now that is the only thing Abe is doing!

Work through this. Please do not be miss lead by sometimes miss guided reporting.

What misguided reporting? If you want to make your case for Abe, put it out here, when has there been misguided reporting?

Look at the positives. Look at the negatives. Look at the gains as compared to the losses..

Pray tell what positives? Again just what has Abe done beyond appearance? Here is another opportunity, what has Abe done for the "positive" side?

But Shinjiro Koizumi is not ready to become PM, for 5 more years. Not enough experience yet.

Yet another LDP politician seen as a future leader of Japan based on the fact he comes from a family of politicians.

I say get him in now. The housewives seem to find him cool. In 5 years the looks will have faded a bit.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Re Shinjiro Koizumi  - as cricky said, grooming the younger just perpetuates the entrenched nepotism and all it's associated problems, in Japanese politics.

Oviously he is a very intelligent person, who amongst other thinngs has worked hard for the citizens of Tohoku and spoken about change and giving voice to younger people.

But he must be said that he simply inherited his position from his father when he resigned . At aged about 26 or so he stepped into this "ready-made" vacancy in the LDP apparatus. Literally he just took over from his father with the decades of machinations in place set up to serve for him. The epitome of being served on a silver spoon.

This perpetuation is what really irks esp as the father Junichiro Koizumi spoke against such practices and then did a complete reversal and "gave" his positiion to his son.

RE the LDP presidency - So if Abe fails to win the position, the "hands-in-the-pockets-of-each-other" situation of all other likely candidates, will no doubt be no significant change.

Oh, for sure there will be some bowing, handwringing and a period of good behaviour, but I doubt any of the rot will be cut out. The whole barrel is spoiled, except perhaps a few at the bottom, and they are not likely to see daylight for a long time, or become themselves spoiled in the process.

As the 30,000+ demonstration in Tokyo yesterday showed, it's the electorate who need to step up and pressure the staus quo and vote accordingly for the long term betterment of all.

Nepotism is alive and well in Japan, replace the current PM with another regurgitated offspring of a former PM. Starting to think a selected missile strike by NK might actually benefit Japan's future. The last 70 years of Nepotism has led the country to a birth crisis a temporary work force, a yearly deficit greater than last year. And a celebration of a 0.01 growth. Really it's time to reboot and face the future. Never happen I know but I can dream of a better Japan.

I would like to see Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga become prime minister. Listening to him during the press conferences, he at least appears to be intelligent.

has anyone seen this on the news?

I suspect Abe doesn’t have much longer in the job

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Abe-san, good job, seems you learned something good from USA: to lie.

Ganbare Japan!Today 08:27 am JST

Its worth to remember that ex-PM Koizumi is pushing for his son to take over as PM. That is why he is strongly attacking PM Abe.

Maybe. Got anything to back up that allegation? If not I hope you aren't going to criticise anyone else for making baseless claims.

But Shinjiro Koizumi is not ready to become PM, for 5 more years. Not enough experience yet.

Who cares. Anyone is better than Abe. There are lots of bad politicians in the LDP, but Abe is the absolute worst.

PM Abe must continue, stay strong Prime Minister, we are counting on you!

Personally I'm counting down the days until he either quits or is forced out. Like most people, I suspect.

What is it with Asian politics? In Malaysia, in the lead up to the forthcoming election, there is ex-P.M. Mahathir blatantly criticising the current governing party, that he himself started decades ago, in an effort to get his son elected as P.M., and in Japan allegedly Koizumo is attempting to do the same thing. It's bad enough that there is corruption, but the last thing they need is nepotism as well.

Japan. You are on a path to progress. Your Prime Minister is doing a great job, apart from being to friendly with trump.

Work through this. Please do not be miss lead by sometimes miss guided reporting.

Exaggerated favoritism, biased thought education, military expansion, Abenomics of internal debt increasing, nuclear power dependency, wrong items to change Constitution improvement, etc... All of those 5-6 years for Abe was a realm of "what goes around comes back around".

They need to elect someone.

bureaucrats in apparent attempts to cover up Abe scandals.

Japanese bureaucrats do not cover up politicians' scandals.  They reveal to media.  That's how they control politicians.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Cover up of radiation leaking everywhere.... Did I miss something here?

Yes. You are missing what Japanese people are concerned about right now. Radiation-leaking-everywhere rumor is not much of concern for them at this time and perhaps in foreseeable future as well. What occupying Japanese public right now (as shown in the picture of this article) is a series of news concerning public documents which are either altered or hidden from public by bureaucrats in apparent attempts to cover up Abe scandals.

The people of Japan deserve a PM who cares about them more then a personal agenda for some reason they continue to elect supposed leaders that care not a dot about Joe average,

Stop please, the general public did NOT directly elect Abe. And Japan will rarely get a PM interested in the "public" overall, BECAUSE of the manner in which PM's are selected.

What Japan SHOULD have, and what it currently has are rhetorical conversations at best here, as nothing will actually change, systematically, that is.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

That is without counting on the population’s apathy.

I’ll win again with a promise to fix (hide better) everything.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Is Dad trying to clear the path for his son to take over? Sounds like it. I know that the younger Koizumi is seen to be too young to make the jump to the PM's chair, but looking at other countries, like France, Canada, the move to younger more "hip" leaders seems to be a popular move. I know this is Japan, the land ruled by dinosaurs, but it could happen!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Abe might have to start a war or maybe take some more pictures with his “fans”

3 ( +4 / -1 )

The people of Japan deserve a PM who cares about them more then a personal agenda for some reason they continue to elect supposed leaders that care not a dot about Joe average, catastrophic birth rate? More importantly for those in power give his friends cheep land. Excessive overtime, lets triple the legal amount before death? Urge but not introduce actual laws that benefit workers. Between 40 to 60 percent of workers are on part time contracts Abe, Aso have actively benifiting their family businesses at the expense of "normal" people. Vile.

Cover up of radiation leaking everywhere, secrecy of all that is happening in Fukushima, all the other more serious things that effect the citizens of Japan directly, cover ups/keep it out of the media issues, well you all get the point, and he loses his job over a discounted sale of state land to a school operator???

These issues are not tied directly to the PM, and "radiation" is not leaking everywhere around Fukushima. Yes there are other serious issues but like I said they aren't directly tied to Abe himself. And while other issues should be taking precedence with regards to the refugees within the country, these "personal" scandals will push him out.

Did I miss something here?

Yeah you have. It's called Japanese politics. Folks here KNOW that many politicians are not "clean", they just don't want the dirty laundry brought out into public.

Pride comes before the fall.

"How can he say that he is not related (to the matter)?"

Like many politicians - by moving the lips and projecting sounds from the mouth.
