Fat boy wasting money molesting fish again.

The definition of insanity, keep doing the same thing expecting a different outcome. Hasn’t worked before so what makes him think it will work this time?

I imagine the cost of one ballistic missile launch would be enough for a project to feed several hundred people, but little rocket man had to see his country's money go up in smoke, literally! I really wonder if North Korea just turned inward and used its nuclear energy to rebuild the country instead of building WMDs, I imagine how rich the country would be.

Eastern sea?? It's called the 'SEA of JAPAN'.

Developing countries at the recent climate conference determined that North Korea is the leading country to reimburse the poor nations for climate change damages. One ballistic missile fired by North Korea is equal to 30 years of Kenya’s carbon output.

1600 sorties to bully NK! Imagine China doing that to Hawaii?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

The North’s military said on Monday that its launches last week were simulations to “mercilessly” strike key South Korean and U.S. targets such as air bases and operation command systems.

Where are the key U.S. bases they are talking about that are targeted by North Korean missiles? Coming to mind are Kadena Air Base on Okinawa and Yokota Air Base in Metropolitan Tokyo.

Hope the North’s military is just bluffing.

The last launch resulted in the media, government causing panic for half a day even after it was known it came nowhere near Japan. you should launch yourselves into a completely useless drainage ditch. It never came near Japan. An attack would involve a build up, that would involve a signal for an attack. But that doesn’t mean the LDP won’t use it. I still see posts about NK missiles flying over Japan….that’s not what happened. Lies, lies lies. Yes NK is a out of control state, but not that crazy. Yet. China sets the boundaries not Kim.

one of the North Korean missiles that flew southward last week was determined to be a Soviet-era anti-aircraft weapon that dates back to the 1960s.

Over 50 years old and it still worked

.

How much of the North Korea weapons is that age

At this point, Kim is just throwing money into the ocean.

He is referring primarily to the many US Army and Air Force bases in South Korea; eg Camp Humphreys, Camp Carroll, Camp Stanley, K-16 Army Base, Osan Air Base and Kunsan Air Base.

Every one of these missile launches is an opportunity for their engineers, and yes DPRK has trained engineers, to learn lessons about their work. You have to know they are examining telemetry data from these launches to learn if their missiles operated as planned and hit their intended impact point.

Well, about two months ago the Russian and Chinese navies held a joint exercise off the coast of Alaska and unless you pay attention to the maritime press you would not have known it happened. The US sent a High Endurance Cutter and Coast Guard C-130 to keep tabs on the exercise but otherwise made no comments. Similarly about two or three months before that exercise the Russians held an exercise off Hawaii simulating attacks on a carrier strike group. Since the exercise was conducted in international waters there was nothing to say. The US kept an eye on the exercise but otherwise said nothing about it.

Given the sheer number of missiles aiming for the ocean, I think the goal of the launches is more than just practice for the NK engineers. Kim is trying to make a statement, "Look at me!"

True, but I was pointing out that the missile launches are not a complete waste of resources as some have stated. Their engineers learn something valuable from every launch and especially so from the ones that fail.

I found that all together there are 21 U.S. bases and facilities in South Korea. Looks like the U.S. took over Imperial Japan for the ruling of the country.

Had these U.S. bases been planted there before the Korean War or were they built after it?

After. When DPRK invaded ROK in 1950 ROK had a very small military with no armor and for all intents and purposes no combat air force. The US had about 500 military personnel in ROK training the new ROK army. There were no US military bases there. The US had decommissioned vast number of ships, closed military airfields all across the US and abroad and discharged much of their army. After WWII the US was tired of fighting and the US military shrank dramatically from what it was during WWII. Perhaps naively the US never expected the North Koreans to attack and were completely unprepared for it. That was a hard lesson the US does not want to repeat and explains the current US force posture. It has deterred DPRK from re-invading ever since.

Why is it so hard for anyone to understand that having US forces in a particular nation does not mean the US rules that nation? The US doesn't make decisions for the government or the people of South Korea. They elect their own government and like the Philippines did in 1992 could ask US forces to leave at any time if they so choose. The US would pack up and leave. Having US forces in South Korea is beneficial to both nation. It is not a situation of dominance and submission. The US knows it simply cannot sit back and allow ROK to be invaded and conquered and the ROK doesn't want to take a chance of that happening. Having US forces there deters DPRK from re-invading which very much helps the ROK while for the US it is far better to have forces in ROK now than have to mobilize forces and take a week or more to get them and their equipment to South Korea in an emergency, then have to claw back all the territory lost while the US mobilized its forces. Again, lessons learned the hard way by both nations.
