Shaky Japanese submarine pitch puts Australian industry offside

The Japanese will have done none of this and so will not be in a position to even understand what is possible with respect to Australian industry involvement, nor appreciate the cost and risk

Lots of He Said, She Said here, but overall this part of the game is unfavorable to Japan. They know they have a better objective bid (the competitors are not sweetening their deals for no reason) so they are conceding less. That's the base reason they are being pounded on.

Japan understandably wants to do this by herself, and it is not all for selfish reasons. This is their first big export sales and if they are going to do it, they don't want hangups from using untested suppliers (however much their feelings may be hurt). One thing Japan does quite well is naval shipbuilding - ships seem to just keep coming out like sausages without any major, headline making blowouts in either time, cost or build. They understandably don't want to risk to turn Soryu into uh, a Collins.

Classic lost in translation & simply being rather clueless, by the sounds of it Japan wont even be in a position to submit any sort of bid!!! DOH!!!

The Japanese presentation also lacked key details, they said. pretty much sums up most of Japan Inc,

LOL Australia are the ones looking to pay good money to somebody willing to build there subs, if the Japanese cant or dont know how to engage potential customers then maybe the Germans can do a better job. $50Billion at stake the Japanese better get the S*** together quickly the Germans are rubbing there hand together as we speak.

If they could. Apparently, Japan can do this job better. Thus the fuss.

{Prpbably Germany will get the contract. Germany expressed it will create in Australia when this plan came out. At that time, Japan was not interested to use Australian facilities. Then France claimed it is the top advanced technology oriented country in the world, Mitsubishi and Kawasaki has been secretive and they are not known to share their inventions. So my guess is not Japan as they expect JSDF orders. China, too.

Hasn't Australia stopped making cars in their country ? Why would they want to try and build advanced Submarines.
