It would be a bit foolhardy for Japan to send troops into South Korea when the Communist North invades. Most likely Japan will aid by patrolling the sea and offering supplies. But, that is also a big if, because I suspect South Korea will decline any aid Japan will offer. Pride is something South Korea's government has a lot of.
I wonder if South Korea will form a government-in-exile in Japan?

And why would Japan send security forces to the Korean peninsula without South Korea's agreement? Are they really afraid Japan is going to try and colonize them again?

Japan sent troop to Korea 120 years ago because "japanese met dangers there" and it turned out japan occupied korea! so it is understandable why korean worried!

"South Korea said on Tuesday it would not accept Japan’s exercise of collective self-defense that affects the security of the Korean peninsula without its request or agreement, after Tokyo moved to drop a ban on its military from fighting overseas."
South Korea still playing the Chinese pet dog, Japan should announce that not only will they not implement collective defense to assist South Korea in the event of conflict on the Korean Peninsula but that they will seek to amend the US-Japan Mutual Defense Treaty so that U.S. military assets I Japan may not be used in support of South Korea, If South Korea wants so much to be a Chinese subject, let them.

According to various recent polls, a majority of the Japanese public are against this move --
I wonder if this move by the Abe gov't is REALLY IN LINE WITH JAPAN'S DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES OR INSTEAD A LURCH TOWARD FASCISM.

Please get a reality check - Japan's global influence, softpower, and Japan Inc are a shadow of her former self.
