Im telling you...Its WWF wrestling politics. On camera they're fighting and saying this and that. behind the scenes, they're talking and working together. what we see is entertainment

He should highly praise Park's father's service in the Japanese military during WWII. That should soften her up.

what we see is entertainment

If you are in the position of being constantly demanded apology and big money it is hardly entertainment.

Yup, and SK is asking Japan to re-open currency swap between the SK Won and JP Yen.

Basically they want economic assistance from Japan. I hope Abe gives her the middle finger salute.

Why do people keep on making up wishful thinkings? Why would Korea want currency swap with a worthless JP Yen? The Yen has devalued against the Won 50%.

Abe will be off to Yasukuni on November 3rd.

Is it propaganda when the SK Business representatives states it at a meeting? I don't think so.

Likewise if you are in the position of having suffered severe human rights abuses at the hands of a party that doesn't acknowledge them. You always talk about Japan's 'hurt feelings' but you refuse to see that Korea has a genuine grievance over the issue. The best way for Japan to stop Korea 'hurting its feelings' would be to put the matter to bed with a full, unreserved, unqualified, official apology to the comfort women (specifically to them, and not the more general, qualified & vague apologies that have been issued in the past)

It is to the rightwingers. On BOTH sides. Without that, where would they be?

Papi, Japan's swap is in US$.

Yoshitsune, It is Japan who want apology for fabricated comfort women story as a matter of fact.

its a PR stunt, SK knows that Japan can not make commitment in a very short notice. Why not give the finger?

Again the pro Korean Mod stikes removing a link about SK Business representatives urging for re-establishing a SK Won JP Yen currency swap that was published by Sankei. This mod is not following protocols since I haven't received a message stating they are removing the post.

Here is the post.

President Okamoto (*) of Korea on her road to Canossa?

Japanese PM Abe will disappoint if he does not make her travel and grovel all the way to his Japanese Prime Minister’s Residence.

Japanese Prime Ministers are recorded having proffered a string of apologetical statements. These must be renewed as earlier apologies are stomped upon by the receiving end. Why is that?

Because the receiving end knows that the apologies are insincere. Japanese apologies insincere? Why is that?

Because Japan’s footprint on the Korean peninsula gives no motives for apologies. That is why.

Sincere Koreans know the truth of Japanese Korea. And they resent their president’s posturing. But who better than Korean President Okamoto (*) should know?

President Okamoto() 's father, Minoru Okamoto() initiated the 1965 bilateral agreement settling the issue of reparations and normalizing Korea's relations with Japan.

That bilateral agreement resulted in an influx of Japanese investments that jump-started the export oriented Korean economy. Japan is Korea's top trading partner.

Meanwhile, former state-sponsored Korean prostitutes are bitterly aware how much the flesh trade remained an engine of South Korea's rise to Asian Tiger status.

The anti-Japanese slant of President Park Geun-Hye's diplomacy is contrived, to say the least.

————————————————— (*) : Okamoto, the Japanese identity President Park Geun-Hye inherits from Minoru Okamoto, aka late Korean President Park Chung-hee. Knowing about the early career of former Korean president Park Chung-hee -- Japanese name Masao Takagi (高木正雄), later changed to Minoru Okamoto (岡本実) -- helps lifting the veil on what ails a decidedly conflicted Korea.

Is it propaganda when the SK Business representatives states it at a meeting? I don't think so.

Why would SK business reps say they need a swap with Japan? Swaps have nothing to do with businessmen. All they care about is business, or their own interests. Japanese keep printing anti-Korean fabricated news everyday, so this type of "news' is not really surprising in a country where anti-Korean hate books become number one sellers.

Papi, Japan's swap is in US$.

Do you even understand what a currency swap is? lol.. no it's not in US$...lol..

Yoshitsune, It is Japan who want apology for fabricated comfort women story as a matter of fact.

Of course you do.

It is Japan who want apology for fabricated comfort women story as a matter of fact.

This single sentence sums up the entire problem. There are many on the Japanese right wing - most problematically including many politicians and business leaders - who refuse to accept that Japan committed any atrocities. But outside the Japanese right wing, the claim that the comfort women is a fabricated story has zero credibility. In order to move forwards, Japan's establishment needs to stop whitewashing the past.

Taiwan's president Ma spoke some wise words this week about moving forwards but also not forgetting the past. He has previously stated very clearly the comfort women system was a crime against humanity, and Taiwan is about to open a museum on the subject. It isn't only a Korean matter - there were many women from Taiwan, mainland China, and elsewhere who suffered under this system.

So who do you want an apology from, Tina? Taiwan, China, Korea, Holland, Australia, and Indonesia - for not being ok with (or forgetful of) the wartime abuse of their citizens by IJA?

Why would SK business reps say they need a swap with Japan?

It is in Korean papers.

Do you even understand what a currency swap is? lol.. no it's not in US$...lol..

It is also in Korean papers why they need swap with Japan because Japanese swap is in US$ which Korean want desperately.

Yoshitsune - You should trust Japanese more.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Oh, I trust the Japanese, by and large. But I don't trust the right wing Japanese establishment when it comes to their historical views - Nippon Kaigai has a clearly stated goal of changing historical perceptions about Japan's conduct in the 30s and 40s. This is the problem. Perhaps you need to be a little more sceptical about what they say

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

I don't know Nippon Kaigi, but I'm sure you are misunderstood. Japanese are very detail oriented and particular about truth. It is not wrong to try to look into history more in detail. Japan is finding even more old historical facts, Japan is finding more about Yoshitsune too.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

You don't know Nippon Kaigi? And yet I made a spelling mistake with their name and you corrected it...

Japanese are very detail oriented and particular about truth

Except in the case of Japanese right wing historical revisionists when the truth makes Japan look bad.

It is not wrong to try to look into history more in detail

Sounds like the opposite of what Abe at al are attempting with their historical whitewashing.

Japan is finding more about Yoshitsune too

Excuse me?
