The old hiding out in the hospital (AKA Rest Cure) when there is a social/political scandal. Abe's party knows it so well. That is one less bed a COVID patient or another seriously ill person can not use.

The grilling of public officials is on TV but nada on the firm that Suga's son belongs to. Both industry and government should be held accountable and Tohokushinsha company should be banned from all government related work.

The only way to fix this problem once and for all is to shrink the role of government and embed the change into the constitution. So long as central planners have power, they will be targets for corruption and humans are too weak to resist. I might be too weak myself. Hence we have to change the game, once and for all.

Japan is run on cronyism and connections. Look at the ‘extensive’ list of PMs over the last twenty years. Most have relatives that were either past PMs or extremely rich and powerful.

Wrong. Hospitals have a limited amount of private rooms and due to corona there is a severe squeeze on the availability of private rooms ( I had an operation in October last year and it was very difficult to get a private room ). So she is depriving someone of a room if (as it is probably the case) she doesn't actually need it.

Private rooms are not used for corona patients. Only the person/patient can decide if they actually need it. I also had an operation last year and had a private room.

Hospital bed occupancy is never 100.... Says who? Do you keep statistics from every hospital in Japan ? We are taking about private hospital bed occupancy.... Which can be at 100 percent ...it definitely was when I was in last October.
