One down 49 to go! Now we just need Suga to step down due to his poor (an understatement) handling of the virus. Then Coates, Bach need to be fired as well.

For moments I read “Suga steps down”.
Would be appropriate.

An embarrassment to the university and Suga's administration. Just shows that being in academia doesn't necessarily imply a possession of common sense and decency. Idiots come in all shapes and forms...

Indeed, viewed from outside the SOE is a complete farce. Suga just shot the messenger.
How could a country possibly hold the Olympics under a true COE? Everyone is supposed to be locked down.

He sort of backflips into a deeper hole, not very bright. But without his advice what will happen to the economy....oh, might get better? Doubt it. New adviser please agree with our destructive policies.

Read the same thing and felt a tiny rush of optimism. Then reread and reality came crashing in. No hope.
because your country's testing is a complete and utter joke.
Oh I think it was proper- that's how I would have described the J gov's response in general.

It's a fact, and many are not blaming him for it.
This part is offensive, and it's not a figure of speech.

Had it coming! Glad he say the writing on the wall. Moron.

Ah. Sleight of hand. Dispenses with one individual, as if that person does not reflect the position of the ruling junta. Which deflects from Suga's embrace of the IOC and 'games at any cost'.

There have been repeated incidents that someone resigns by some media's persistent criticism. This time, too, the media has shown its violence and again got a success story. I am looking forward that the genius Mr. Takahashi, who is now free, speaks freely from now on.

This guy is out of touch with the real world! But officals like him is common in the Japanese govt.

The ‘ripple’ part is not so wrong, but his conclusions the more.

Kaetsu University.
Not exactly Harvard......

He was talking about COVID-19 Stringency Index,
where Japan's measures of so-called "State of Emergency" is nothing like "lock-downs" in other countries. It is so weak, compared to other countries, that he called it like a "fart".

He is actually right.

Blame the guy that hired him in the first place too.
socrateos
shogun36:
Why blame? This guy used a relatively benign word "fart" to criticize Japanese system of "State of Emergency". He said a right thing. PM should be commended for hiring him.
smithinjapan
Yeah... steps down... until the next election.
