Since Abe and his cabinet are only rising in disapproval, how about throwing out all of them?
Joshua Degreiff
With any law or suggestions he does his percentage of trust is going down.

So.... to something I have said previously. Abe and the LDP will stay in power as long as / until there is an opposition party with a candidate and a policy that the public are willing to support and vote for.
Doesn't matter if support for Abe's cabinet dropped from 47% to 40%. The LDP will not lose power if support for the main opposition party is only 12%.

To look at the polls from another angle ... you mean somebody still supports Abe, his Cabinet and his cronies? Holy cow ... !!
Kabukilover
Agree zone2surf. The opposition need to get their act together and offer an alternative to the LDP. Otherwise, voters with simply not vote and the LDP will win by default.

Rightfully so. The man has behaved like a dictator

Ah, he has nothing to worry about as long as he has one-third support in the upper house he cannot be ousted. "I am the law!"

His "interpretation" of the constitution is illegal.
Abe is mentally incompetent. The last time he quit, he had a nervous breakdown (psychotic episode). The PR was that he had "tummy trouble."
Time for him to go and to get Japan back on track.

Poll schmolls, Abe doesnt' care nor do the rest of the LDP. The did what they wanted and will continue to do what they want to do since the system is in Japan is about groups and who has the power. Right now its Abe and his cronies and dont' care about the ones and twos who are against their private agenda.

Support at 40% and 47% disapproval? That's really not that bad to be honest. And disapproval for the bill at a misleading 54%.
These are not really strong numbers and hardly overwhelming enough to scare Abe and his cronies.
Yeah, there are all these stories of massive protests, but there's an almost equal amount who either support the bill or don't care. That's what's scary.
I've always believed Japanese people aren't really all that angry about this and have always disliked being talked about as losers from WWII. I think deep down they want their own military.

Is there any other country besides North Korea where an administration and government performs so badly yet the opposition fails to benefit and to mount any semblance of a challenge? Can they find no narrative on which to build an alternative vision for this nation?

People may not support Abe but that won't stop them voting for the son of the last guy, who happens to be an LDP man who has exactly the same position as Abe on all the main issues.

It's amazing how much damage a government can do in such a short space of time. Truly remarkable.

i guess this exactly is what US wants. just like middle east, far east will suffer. Japan should not be a puppet state of US (like Turkey)
Moonraker
Sadly it is not enough disapproval that it cannot be overcome with a quick cabinet re-shuffle.

Finally. Some people are getting it.
Yes. Polls don't matter. Mass demonstrations don't matter. Only elections do.
nigelboy
And I could cite countless demonstrations by these minorities within Japan which had no bearing on the legislation for where the silent majority prevailed. Your citing of other states simply proves the failure of the established government at that time and nothign more.

Days like these people want to be politically correct. Kids dont understand that if You want someone to lend you a hand you have to lend yours too. If it wasnt for the United States, Russia and china would have anexed Japan time ago.

Let's wait and see what happens to a lot of Japanese people living out of Japan. A lot of terrorists have been waiting for the SDF of Japan to carry guns, and now that they do, will start killing a lot of Japanese abroad, since they consider US as their enemy, and Japan is under their umbrella! By the way, does Shinzo Abe have a son?

If disapproval over Abe and these Bills continues, I'm expecting a false flag operation to quickly reverse this. A CIA fighter jet disguised as Chinese shooting down a Japanese jet around the Senkaku islands, for example.
