TIL USA official policy trumps UN resolutions. Got it.

What resolution? The toiletpaper that authorized the PRC on the security council?

Funny how that works, dear Isabella. When the Republic of China was invited by the USA and the other victorious powers of WW2 to be a permanent member of the Security Council the ROC represented all of China in the United Nations. Now the PRC sits in that very same chair.

It works in the same way it's worked for decades, since it is official US policy, as I stated.

There is the little matter of a Chinese civil war to consider with your "very same chair" fantasy. Resolution 2758 said nothing at all about Taiwan.

The resolution passed on Oct. 25, 1971, recognizes the PRC as the “only lawful representative of China.”

However, the governments of Taiwan and the US have repeatedly said that it does not mention Taiwan, does not state that Taiwan is part of the PRC, and does not explicitly authorize Beijing to represent Taiwan in the UN system.

Japan should stay clear of China internal affairs

Not PRC internal affairs.

Japan should stay clear of China internal affairs, and NOT to drag down with war by US or Taiwan.

Japan is playing with fire by engaging with a non-UN recognised separatist state,

Not a separatist state when the PRC is clearly the one that broke off.

Nobody argues that the PRC has a lot of heft and Europe has been very spineless historically.

Japan is playing with fire by engaging with a non-UN recognised separatist state, that is clearly mainland China's real estate.

This will come back to bite them big time in the future.

Ishiba showed maturity by promising jack to the Lai (pronounced lie) regime.

So Xi surely won't throw the toys out of the pram over a group of lawmakers visiting, right? Or is he less mature?

Officially, America sees it as an integral part of one China.

This statement is false. (And I'm sure you know it is.)

As stated many, many times before, the US does not consider Taiwan part of the PRC.

...

The United States’ “One China Policy” does not recognize Taiwan as part of the PRC.

*The U.S. has never recognized Taiwan as a part of the PRC. The U.S. merely acknowledges that the PRC holds the position that Taiwan is part of the PRC.*

Yes, Chinese Taipei but just keep a military budget for the US like Japan is doing and you'll be fine. Win Win for US and China.

Then China can lay off with the nonsense exercises whenever someone visits Taipei right? Because Xi is actually an adult?

Good to see Free Taiwan maintaining alliances.

Taiwan is not free. It's currently a vassal state of America. Officially, America sees it as an integral part of one China. Take your pick.

So it is a vassal state of America but also part of China. Really need to pick your delusion. In any event, Taiwan owes nothing to America because America hasn't promised anything and more importantly Taiwanese people aren't running dogs of a Corrupt Communist Party.

Ishiba told reporters Lai had told him that Taiwan will not seek independence and aims for maintaining status quo of the cross-strait relations.

Good. So like we all know, China is not going to invade the Republic of China and so there will be no war in Asia.

a four-member U.S. congressional delegation led by Marilyn Strickland separately met with Lai and reaffirmed U.S. support for Taiwan to maintain the cross-strait status quo.

Yes, Chinese Taipei but just keep a military budget for the US like Japan is doing and you'll be fine. Win Win for US and China.
