Can't even get his name right... wow these guys shouldn't even be trusted with the beer money....

Why does he need such a thing anyway? There's too much focus on bells & whistles and surface image.

Maybe newly anointed nuclear expert Mr. Abe can now tell the people in Japan, and around the world, what the heck is going on and how to fix it (yeah, right). Otherwise this was just a publicity stunt.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

A quick Google search would have been enough to double check. But I guess that's a bit too much to ask of an organisation that oversees nuclear power plants.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

didnt he just say that all contained.... why does he need a suit ?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Tepco can't do anything correct!

3 ( +7 / -4 )

TEPCO has no sense of responsibility, no confidence, no pride, no shame but they sure got plenty of stupidity don't you think?

10 ( +10 / -0 )

問題が倍になるのか。 Par for the course.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Abe was given a specially-printed suit

How does one print a suit?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Are there no limits to their incompetency?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The explanation for facepalm in the dictionary is "TEPCO"

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Ah, just more proof that TEPCO and SNAFU have become synonymous!

5 ( +7 / -2 )

When you think tepco can not go any lower...

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Nothing fazes the Supreme Advocaat!

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Ah!

That's the real reason Fukushima is going to be scrapped!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Apologies are necessary and whatever, but I think TEPCO have far bigger things to worry about (and apologize for).

And so does Abe for that matter.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Can't believe they didn't know the name of what they bought!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

A "faux pas" certainly but there's bigger fish to fry, or to be precise bigger fish to be decontaminated.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Failco strikes again.

They make themselves look dumber and dumber each day.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Did they call him Funzo?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So what? I've personally experienced native Japanese speakers getting the names of up to four people in a row completely wrong because to the problems of reading kanji, and regularly come across people with names which sound exactly the same, but are written completely different.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Red-faced officials issued an embarrassed apology to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

At least they made efforts to match the color of the PM's helmet.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Totally FUBAR. Can you believe this? A clattering collection of idiotic idiocy. ALL under control? Dishonest Abe, why, because he hasn't glued the techtonic plates together so HOW is it, 'all under control'?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

These guys are too nervous/stressed to do anything right.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Turn about is fair play. They (Japan) gets English wrong all too often and there are never any apologies or changes.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

A wee gaffe for sure, but It shows just how little significance they and we should place on this photo opportunity visit, intended to somehow impress the world he gives a damn about Fukushima.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

So what? I've personally experienced native Japanese speakers getting the names of up to four people in a row completely wrong because to the problems of reading kanji

did those people include the current prime minister of Japan?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Well at least it made me laugh !

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Who picked up the mistake?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I wonder how many other typing mistakes they have made. In fact, I wonder if they make typing mistakes with numbers, too.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

TEPCO - a well-oiled machine. I plan on getting pretty well-oiled tonight but I never do it while working.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Hey, kanji wa muzukashii...

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Abe-sori: That's not my name on the suit. Give me another one. I'm not going to embarrass myself during the tour. TEPCO geezer: Sorry, Abe-sori, that's the last suit we have. Our budget is very low momentary. Would you like to visit our plant without? After all, everything is under control.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Just a meaningless error to focus the clueless on something other than Abe's mishandling of the last two years. You could print psyco douchebag on hi suit an I would applaud.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"Abe's mishandling of the last two years"

Abe has been prime minister for just a little over eight months.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Three of the four characters used to write his name were correct. However, the character for “be” was not the right one.

Let it be ! Doubt if people have any good expectations from Tepco or Abe.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Classic! Yet more proof that this company can't be bothered to check up on what's going on. This is an amazingly poignant example proving that they just don't care.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Abe needs to retract his statement to the IOC. "TEPCO cannot spell my name right, but let me assure you everything is under control at Fukushima"

7 ( +7 / -0 )

TEPCO doesn't care what Abe' s name is as long as the Central Government picks up the tab for their screw-up.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Wow - this is the stuff from which the saying 'you can't make this up!' comes from. Comedy writers couldn't do better!

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I think we should rename them Typoco.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

nessie, its commonly understandable that printed suit means 'some thing printed on it' and now aren't u aware of scientists have developed the technology to "3D print " any type of 'object ' via computer /internet to a remote location without actually transferring any "material ". so next time it may be like " Mr. Abe uses a printed pen everytime."

I have a Spelling Bee quiz for you. Do you know how to spell a word of verb "fail"?

The correct answer for the "fail" is "_____", yes, it is spelled "T.E.P.C.O". Ding, dang!! Great answer!!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Abe didn't know what was going on either and was just following a choreographed pantomime.

They all of the same ilk. Dip sheets, all.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I don't think this is an issue. Kanji is not like spelling. It is much more complex and difficult to master. Japanese is the most difficult language on the planet, and there are bound to be occasional mistakes.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!....awkward.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"I don't think this is an issue. Kanji is not like spelling. It is much more complex and difficult to master. Japanese is the most difficult language on the planet, and there are bound to be occasional mistakes."

Funny, it took me all of 10 seconds to find his name in Kanji on multiple websites online.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

And still the TEPCO senior management acts as though they have everything under control. What a crock.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

ofcourse it's just a public stunt! at this point in game his visit does'nt affect the plan much. it's just to show Mr. Abe is hard at work. "mina-san~ sori wa chanto gambatte masu-yo~

1 ( +1 / -0 )

This is ridiculous at this point; TEPCO management needs to arrested for environmental crimes, and the UN needs to seal up and clean Fukushima. No more leaks, shut everything down as soon as possible ...

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Now we know why TEPCO didn't have SOP in place nor adjusted them to incorporate recommendation resulting from the US 3 Mile Island incident. TEPCO executives can't read or write.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

wonderful PR disaster, makes the visit laughable

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Now, no one believe any numbers by TEPCO. Which kanji it goofed? A, BE, Shin, Zo? Guessed Japanese PM;s name>?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It doesn't matter. Shinzo Abe has been called so many other names worse than the mistake that it doesn't hurt..
