OssanAmerica: "Only when it's coming from a Japanese national or resident."

So, a Japanese person or a resident in Japan cannot be against Abe's policies or they "hate Japan"? Where do you get this nonsense from? The majority of people in Japan are against a number of Abe's policies, and many the man himself for espousing them. Do they hate the nation because they don't want to see it get nuclear weapons? because they want the emperor to resign and the government to stop dilly-dallying about it? Because they think the overtime cap is ridiculous? because they don't want the Constitution changed and want peace?

Mulan this article about North Korea's missles, Japan and South Korea. Japan already apologized and offered war reparations in 1972. It was China who refused opting for ODA assistance instead.

"China's policy back in the 1970s-80s was of friendship and good relations, with China's goal of improving their economic lot through assistance both monetarily and technology from Japan."

Just back in 1970s? I said you know nothing about North East Asia, I didn't say it without basis.

China and Japan had relationship back at least 3000 years. It wasn't China's goal to improve its economic goal through assistance from Japan. Quite oppositely.

As China wouldn't forget Japan during 1970s for its contribution to the development of China's economy, China would also not forget many other nations' contribution as well.

If Japan really wants to help China, Japan should compensate for the loss she caused to Chinese during the wars. If Japan is a moral high and moral superior nation, then Japan shouldn't excuse itself for the responsibility, even it means of bankruptcy.

Mulan,

I have no idea what a "diamond policy" is. China's policy back in the 1970s-80s was of friendship and good relations, with China's goal of improving their economic lot through assistance both monetarily and technology from Japan. As we entered the 21st century the Chinese PLA gained power and China ended up with a "economically friendly but strategically hostile" approach to relations with Japan.

The Southern Kuriles became Japanese by treaty with Russia back in 1855. They were never taken by war, yet the USSR violated the terms of the Allied powers in WWII and took them after Japan announced surrender. These islands have NOTHING to do with China's attempt STEAL the Senkakus. The claim started as one over fishing rights by Taiwan, but China usurped it for their own because of it's strategic benefit in breaking the first island chain.

-Japan is not asking any country to be involved in a war against China. China is earning resentment from all it's neighbors solely due to it's territorial expansionist policies.

-Japan does not "bad mouth" China because of it's political system, but because of it's geopolitical policies. The ones who "badmouth" China for it's political system are those in Hong Kong and Taiwan who don't relish being under the thumb of a totalitarian dictatorship.

I would bark at China if China has a diamond policy against Japan.

I would bark at China if China nationalized Kuril Islands.

I would bark at China if China asked other nations to be involved in a war against Japan.

I would bark at China if China bad mouth Japanese emperor just because China has not adopted the same system.

At least three wrong from you:

I didn't attacked Abe. Abe attacked himself. What he is doing is wrong, otherwise I wouldn't point it out."

No Abe did not "attack himself". He's probably not aware of his thread. YOU attacked him in a thread that that is about the North Korean threat.

"Anti-Abe isn't anti-Japan."

Only when it's coming from a Japanese national or resident.

"Global-time opinion isn't China's policy."

Yes it is. It's the mouthpiece of the CCP.

"I don't want to common which govt is better. All I want is to point it out that when China was strong, Japanese were treated fairly. When China is powerful, Japan will be treated the same. I want Japan and China to go back 2000 years back when the two people respect each other. "

Then China needs to stop being a totalitarian dictatorship and join the democratic nations.

"Abe should stop his allies against China. Instead, he should spend more time to build a bridge between two nations."

You are barking at the wrong tree. Without China's anti-Japan policy, it's attempt to steal the Senkaku islands, it's territorial expansion in the South China Sea and disregard for International Law, your badboy Abe wouldn't have accomplished anything. You should be barking Xi Jingping.

Abe should stop using language like "unacceptable".

It's the translators here that continually beat a dead horse and use the same words, or they choose to use words that less than 1% of the English speaking community understand.

"This is funny. China with it's official anti-Japan policy, it's influence over South Korea through the Chong Dae Hyup and propaganda is what keeps those three countries from integrating anything politically. That China happens to be the world's wealthiest and most powerful totalitarian dictatorship bent on Asian hegemony doesn't help."

False.

China has no anti-Japan policy. China has three fundamental documents with Japan that promote peace and friendship and resolve differences with dialogue.

False. China has a clear anti-Japan policy that they use as a diplomatic tool. Or have you not followed any news for the last several years?  And many people too young to remember Mao Tse Tung and Chou En Lai meeting with PM Kakuei Tanaka and signing the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Friendship back in 1972 are drunk on Chinese nationalism, such as yourself. Your anti-Abe posts on the JT forums is evidence, the article is about NKorea, SKorea and Japan. Yet you use it as a platform to attack Abe.

How do you explain that Chinese people continue to be the significant contributor to both Japanese and South Korea economies? If that is anti-Japan policy, then let Japan take care its own products and close door to Japan.

Simple, the CCP dictatorship is interested in geopolitics and strategic agendas with a goal of attaining Asian hegemony. But keeping the people economically happy is crucial for the CCP to remain in power. Most Chinese people are not nationalists like yourself, they like products from Japan and SKorea, regardless of the CCP propaganda appearing in the Global Times.

You obviously are lack of knowledge history od North East Asia. If China wanted totalitarian and hegemony, she could do that 2000 years ago.

Doubt it. During the period from Qin to Han dynasty all the effort was in unifying the mainland. Chinese influence on what remains as "other" nations are from later periods. Besides, nobody is talking about bronze age hegemony. I don't need someone who uses a Disney cartoon name telling me what I know or don't know about North East Asian history,

There was another Abe in history, Tang dynasty, he was even a cabinet member in Chinese govt. China has been an inclusive to all kind of cultures and all neighbours. Abe now should follow example of Abe then.

When 阿倍 仲麻呂 (晁衡 to you) was in Tang, China was a center of culture and civilization. The China you worship now under the CCP burned all that in the Cultural Revolution and destroyed all that was good about China..

China and Russia will always deny a serious UN resolution and will stall with what they deem as "talks", but talks have not done anything. Russia on the other hand wants to keep "talking" while still dropping bombs and arming their constituites until they get the upper hand in any of their personal conflicts. And China is becoming more like NK with downing world news and forcing only their views on their people. Wikipedia is not allowed, but their own version with only their own authors with China's government interets, agendas and ideas to be written, even if only in half truths or completely false is allowed. I believe they are also purging all ways to work around gaining outside knowledge.

To be fair a nation should be able to develope their own weapons for personal defense, however NK is not building them for that reason, unless a deterrent is their "defense". But since the government is unstable, their rhetoric threatening and their defiance appalling, NK can not and should not be trusted or allowed to have such weapons.

The problem however is NATO needs to get off their butts and do something, because clearly as mentioned before, China and Russia will never let the UN do anything to that regime even close to toppling it. The sad fact is it is not to help the NK people, because we all know they would be much better off with out the government they have now, but simply to keep that government there and in power and not let it be a more "Westernized" nation.

Also being a pacifist is one thing, being a punk is something totally different and that is what we look like when we never follow through with out threats and constantly just beat our chests and rattle our rusty sabers. Are we going to just wait till they finally have the capability to hit us or our allies, with nukes even?

But to be fair the US also has allies that are horrible to their own people and we fully support such governments because they support our agendas and we refuse others to intervene.

So far, no one outside of North Korea has been killed or injured by one of these tests and therefore it has been all just strongly worded condemnation and finger waving. When, not if, one of these NK missile tests goes horribly wrong and it does the unimaginable by striking foreign soil, you can bet that everyone will be pointing fingers at a select few for not doing something sooner. Do we have to wait for the inevitable to happen just to say we told you so?

Abe should stop using language like "unacceptable"."

So he should say that NKorea's continued violation of UN resolutions is "acceptable"?

"Has Abe though that a lot of things he does are unacceptable to other sides too?"

As far as anyone can tell Japan, or anything Abe has done is up for discussion at the UN

or any other international forums as a threat to peace and security.

"Abe has slowed or stopped the integration of South Korea, Japan and China, once the brightest hope in the world economy. The only solution to North Korea problem is for Japan, South Korea and China to accelerate economic integration and reach out to North Korea to offer them hopes and helps."

Abe's foreign policy is a disaster to Japan, to say least.

What good does his diamond policy to Japan? Nothing.

The stupidity of Abe's policy cost Japan half of its GDP.

Abe has slowed or stopped the integration of South Korea, Japan and China, once the brightest hope in the world economy.

The only solution to North Korea problem is for Japan, South Korea and China to accelerate economic integration and reach out to North Korea to offer them hopes and helps.

I don't think Kim Jong Un doesn't give a fat rat's clacker what these guys discuss in their meetings....

Badabing, badaboom.

Why can Japan (and others) celebrate launching it's satellites and promote/trumpet their launch capability while other countries can't? Not for a moment supporting N.Korean bellicosity.

Also what is with the photo?

old style phones on a cheap table and attentive people with notebooks (albeit san uniforms) looks uncannily familiar.

expecing to break my record down vote but can't resist the big red post button.

lets hope others can. :)

it flew for about 30 minutes and an altitude exceeding 2,000 kilometers. She said more analysis was needed.

Yeah, you ought to analyse that. The maximum altitude of a US or Russian ICBM is about 1,200km, with a range of 12 or 13,000km (as is, the other side of the planet).

Heck, with the exception of the guys who went to the moon, no human has ever come close to that altitude when in space. Even the int'l space station flies at an altitude of only 400km. So you mean NK just launched a missile which exceeded the orbit of the space station by a factor of 5??? And did so in 30 minutes, including re-entry??

Assuming re-entry took about half the travel time, then it traveled 2000km (with zero angle of trajectory, simply straight up and down) in just 15 minutes... which equates to 8000km per hour??? (and to allow a speed of zero at start, then to accelerate to 2000km in 15 minutes would need to breach well over 10,000km / hour...)

Yeah, sure, either NK is now achieving medium range earth orbit heights, or this is just another BS reason to change the pacifist constitution.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

saying it flew for about 30 minutes and an altitude exceeding 2,000 kilometers

Really? So it went 1900km into outer space? The Kármán line, or Karman line, lies at an altitude of 100 kilometres (62 mi; 330,000 ft) above the Earth's sea level, and commonly represents the boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space.

Methinks either the Minister is misinformed, misquoted or misunderstood, either that or the North Koreans have now entered the Space Race.

The fatty kid dared you with his latest missile launch.

Who got hurt by the latest missile launch? Or maybe you are thinking hurt egos - should we be starting wars over ego?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

The fatty kid dared you with his latest missile launch. So what are you guys waiting? Cow has gone home long ago.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

How many times to we have to hear 'absolutely unacceptable'?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Credit to them for limiting the talks to the launch and not going elsewhere this time. Looks like they are learning. Don't think there is squat they can or will do about the missile launch, since they always come after the nations in question try to do something about the last one, but at least they can meet and agree that China and Russia need to get behind the pressure more.

North Korea more isolated than ever and that makes such decisions made !
