That reporter for the Independent Journal Review is not doing her job! There is no article about Tillerson's trip on that site.

This is not how one builds up a feeling of confidence in the Secretary of State's position. Was it just a dumb rookie mistake, or is this what we can expect from Chump's appointments from now on?

This is an extension of Trump's bunker mentality. Already the Trump crew are seeing themselves as losers--with the American people and the world against them. Poor little right wing snowflakes. The are quite right hide. All they have going for them is subrefuge.

Tillerson doesn't need a batch of White House reporters tailing him around Asia. The American-operated news agencies and newspapers have local based correspondents that can do the job just as well. Besides, locally based correspondents should know the local turf much better than those following from Washington. In addition to the correspondents, there will also be throngs of local journalists from the local news media on hand. So Tillerson should be getting enough news coverage overall, from all angles.

Tillerson should've brought 2 - one on each side (or 3, if ya can find an independent). Otherwise you're playing favoritism, which the government shouldn't be doing (government should be a fair arbiter).

Though not bringing reporters is a step-back for the US State Dept - imagine if this becomes the new norm and future US State Depts --whether Republican or Democrat-- stop bringing reporters (imagine if Hillary Clinton said that reporters can no longer come with her)
