Thank you Trump! Feeling is mutual Two great Leaders, 2 best Nations in the world, who are famously great and close friends. It will be party time for PM Abe and Trump in New York next week as they celebrate the massive unprecedented win by PM Abe!

I'm only disappointed he wasn't given this position for life, as Ganbare says again and again his rule is amazing suddenly mediocrity is the new spectacular. I look forward to more urges, pledges and promises. Today is Premiun Friday we have all benifiting from that lets celebrate.

Cripes, you'd think Abe got elected "god" from the way folks are gushing over his party election.

There is a HELL of a lot more to life that Abe. If he steps down after 3 years, well and good, but if he pushes through a new rule in the LDP to allow a 4th term, we all we be a part of watching the birth of a new dictatorship!

17 ( +20 / -3 )

You'd think people pretending to represent Japan here would realize Abe was elected head of his party. This was not a national election, this was an intra-party election. This win is 'YUGE for Abe in the same way my being elected head of my kids' school's PTA makes me the head of all parents in Japan - i.e. not at all.

i was reading the other day an article which reported that the SDF is having huge difficulties recruiting young men and women.

With the constitution as it is currently conscription is not allowed, however once it is changed you know what will happen next.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

I'd call it more or less comfortable, because 45% voted for his opponent.

The 'democratic charade' must be maintained. Can't have the masses wisening up to the scam now can we?

6 ( +13 / -7 )

He won because he is the richest politician in Japan and ranked first on the list of the top 10 richest politicians in Japan with an estimated net worth of 4.5 billion dollars.

I'll bet Japanese people don't even know this.

12 ( +19 / -7 )

Thank you Mr. Trump. I hope Japan and the USA will continue an alliance of gold. Japan is leader of Asia and America leader of world; two leaders must unite for a future of prosperity.

It wasn't "massive" and it's only "unprecedented" because the LDP changed their own leadership election rules.

Spitfire

what evidence is there that Abe is considering conscription? That would be political suicide.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

"good friend" !

Hahaha! Shows the total cluenessness Trump has about Abe and the LDP (and pretty much all issues).

Trumps Twitter is the most ridiculous thing this century! This is some serious satire, surely!

I hope this sorry state of world affairs does not continue too far into the future. That said, the LDP is starting to morph into a regular (overt) dictatorship. Democracy has lost the battle here in JP.

I'm no fan of Abe, but this is simply not true. FAKE NEWS!

Or drown our sorrows more like...

Cripes, you'd think Abe got elected "god" from the way folks are gushing over his party election.

He more or less has. I would not be surprised if they built a shrine with a monument for him.

The 'democratic charade' must be maintained. Can't have the masses wisening up to the scam now can we?

Exactly. Anyone calling Japan a democracy needs to get their head checked.

. Does Trump not understand how a parliamentary government works?

Are you kidding?? Trump doesn't even understand how his OWN government works!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Am I the only person who feels like they lose brain cells every time trumpy says or tweets words with two syllables?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

*estimated net worth of 4.5 billion dollars.*

I think he means YEN.Then it's possible. Abe IS a very wealthy man to the tune of about 10 million U.S. dollars.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump just doing his thing and speaking like a salesman. No big deal. Unfortunately the whole thing was a no contest from the start. There was no way in the world the other fella ( what’s his name? Actually don’t bother ) was going to win. Polics theatre is what was on show here folks.

Still, the opposition are so weak that at least we can look forward to the much of the same slow moving stability that Japan is famous for. Stocks and the economy seem to be on the rise for now.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Abe is lucky that he is slightly less useless than the rest of his dead-wood party. Which is more than Trump can claim!

Seems to be a currency error, his estimated net worth was 4.5B JPY from some random website :

https://toprichests.com/top-10-richest-politicians-of-japan/

While the only one stating 4.5B USD is another less than believable site :

Yes. Congrats. Look like both know how 2 win.

Jobless claims in the U.S. are at a fifty year low, The stock market is the strongest it's been since there has been a stock market, and the U.S. is the number 1 exporter of oil in the world. C'mon people, Abe is very smart to participate with Trump. He wants a piece of that miracle called the U.S. economy.

Seems to be all over the place. This site has his net worth as $10 million: https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-politicians/presidents/shinzo-abe-net-worth/

Whereas this site says he made $96 million in 2016 alone: https://en.mediamass.net/people/shinzo-abe/highest-paid.html

The Forbes top 50 Japanese list doesn't have him listed, with the lowest net worth on that list being ~$950 million. So $4.5 billion is likely incorrect.

Well at any rate he is worth a lot of money, and Japanese look at at him as a kind of "well to do salaryman". Funny, if they only knew.

Yeah ... have been triangulating some things for a few years now, and I tend to agree.

1 - The Abe-appointed MEXT committee 'recommending' that all National Universities 'dumb down' the capacity of students to question authority by dropping school departments in humanities and social sciences. Even before that, Japanese colleges were charitably ranked at about 70th 'best' among 140 countries. If the LDP had its way, Japanese Universities would not even be considered 'Technical Institutes' because A.I. depends on psychology, anthropology, and other social sciences as much as the STEM fields.

2 - And in apparent contradiction of dumbing down the schools, enfranchising 18 year olds with the right to vote? And what ground swell of grass roots protest led to this? None. It was a top-down decision, based on ... on ... give me a minute here. Oh forget it. Of course, the LDP had no idea ...cough, cough ... that the competitive market for the highest paying jobs, and education system designed to ingrain compliance to authority, would assure most of Japan's youth as among the few youth populations in the world to overwhelmingly vote conservative over progressive (look to the elderly for your anti-nuke, pro-labor, pro-human rights demonstrators).

3 - Despite a signed declaration and protest from Japan's largest organization of scientific researchers, basic funding for research is now inextricably linked to the military ... uh ... 'self defense force'. Hmm, wondering if the MIT-DARPA connection is the LDP's inspiration for such allocation of resources.

I hate to say it, but I think Spitfire is on to something here, and it doesn't look pretty.

On whose tax dollar would you like them to party it up???

"Massive" is most apt a word to describe the level of propoganda you're bot-ing out.

I admit as an American I don't know much about Abe or LDP but I DO know that whoever Trumpytraitor sings the praises of is a total JERK. First he sucks up to Putin, all the time and right from the start. Then after all the juvenile 'nyah nyah' against Kim of NK he has this 'historic summit' (LOL - a joke) with him and he sings Kim's raises too. Now he's pushing a Supreme Court candidate with a record of boorishness and sex assault allegations, and today he praises Abe. It doesn't take a Zen scholar or a Mensa to see the logic or do the math here.

Yeah, I still canna understand why Twitter hasn't banned him yet, hehe

"Unfortunately, Trump will be "fired" by the American public in two years"

Dream on.

"Does Trump not understand how a parliamentary government works?

"He doesn't understand how his own government works"

He understands how it didn't work for the American people and decided to do something about it and now it's starting to.

No he doesn't understand 'how it works' and he ain't even trying to. Ranting, pouting, arm-flapping like a little Hitler, and being a boorish ill-mannered crybaby is not 'how it works'. He doesn't have a clue. He's acting like a Motormouth Megalomaniac Mussolini, not a POTUS but a POUTus. Trumpytraitor doesn't have the clout or the class or maturity to even be a good BS-er. No clout, just pout. Note that he wasn't invited to the funerals of John McCain, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Bush. Is it any wonder why? Particularly in the last case where the widower is now wheelchair-bound due to a form of Parkinson's.
