Donny's just following his M.O. Create a problem where there is none, blame Obama, and "fix" the problem. His supporters are far too intellectually challenged to see this but will cheer him rabidly.
yakyak
You have no idea what your talking about. All of this could have been avoided in the first place if Canada stopped trans shipping Chinese steel into the US when asked too...
CrazyJoe
U.S. reaches a deal to lift the tariffs that weren't there in the first place until this **** put them in place. And he expects credit for it.
What is wrong with this man ?
And what is wrong with the Republican Party ?
otherworldly
I think it would be better to ask, what's wrong with American politics these days.
KnowBetter
The Orange-Do creates fights with his closest trading partners and then goes after the world. Some of those 'attacks' are warranted but how Trump carries them out is unacceptable. First his team wastes time attempting to do damage control and then once egos are pacified they attempt to fix problems that as 'Chip Star' stated were never there.
The Trump express is a monumental train wreck in slow motion. One can only hope there is a better choice come the end of his first term.

"Cheap steel" hurts US steel producers, but benefits literally everybody else. Even a child can understand something so simple and obvious.
It's amazing how history repeats itself right in front of our eyes. The exact same hysteria happening right now against China happened against Japan in the 80s and 90s. You can still find videos on YouTube on proposed tariffs on steel imports from Japan, the same arguments were made against Japan too - "they are subsidizing their steel", "they are flooding America with cheap steel". Japanese products had a terrible reputation, i would say much worse than Chinese products have today. Japan also "flooded" America with cars, so there was a hysteria about Japan killing the US auto industry too, i guess similar to the hysteria against the Chinese telecom giants "invading America".
I bet in 10/20 years from now the hysteria will shift from China to India, and we will start seeing the same old arguments "India is flooding our markets with cheap crap, they are subsidizing their steel, we must stop them".
Tariffs are probably the single most idiotic and self-destructive economic policy anyone can ever advocate for. You have to be an economics professor at an elite US college NOT to understand something so obvious that even a child can understand using basic 5th grade common sense and observational skills.

It’s a fact that China would take aluminum they produced, ship it to Mexico, relabel it, then send it over the border. But keep your minds focused on the next MSM fake news hit piece.
FizzBit
It wasn’t just about steel, it was about the exchange rate, which was 350 to 1 dollar in the 70’s coming down to 130 to 1 dollar by the 90’s.

America proving daily that a democratic republic with a binary two party system is a screwed up way to run a country. When you have just two flawed candidates to choose from, you get flawed management.
FizzBit
Uh, no doubt. Trump is trying to fix 39 years of the flawed two party system.

Xi must be pissed. Good.
The Trump express is a monumental train wreck in slow motion
Yeah, this economy sure is a train wreck! haha
bass4funk
Hmmm....56% of the public disagrees.
Serrano
Yes, electing someone who has absolutely no clue what he's doing is a wonderful way to achieve that goal.
That would be Obama and, yeah, Bush Jr before him, and yeah, Clinton before him, and yeah, Bush Sr before him.
PTownsend
Using as models the single party systems of 1930s Germany and Italy.
Kestrel
At long last a President working in the interests of the US. The chinese are confused - "it isnt supposed to be this way!"

Trump doesn't have the guts to do it, yet stull dwelling on this to make it looks like some kind of favour and bargin chip. p$$

Attack ,Retrench, Retreat, Lie.

What is right at 8 am is wrong by 1200.

Commentors should read the article before spewing your hate against America. The reasons for rolling back the tariffs are clearly stated and make sense.
Dont let your bias get the best of you.

Commentors should read the article before spewing your hate against America.
No your misguided nobody is spewing hate against America, just Trump. No Trump isnt AMerica, if you haven't figured out why people hate or disapprove of Trump more than approve over the last 3 yrs then Im sorry you probably never will.
bass4funk
I completely disagree.
Dunno, his poll numbers are rising, he’s got an almost over 80% approval rating among Republican voters, so his popularity is a lot higher than that hating media are trying to make it out to be.
FizzBit
This is so funny! So for the last 40 years those elected have been right?

This is the common opinion among Japanese colleagues: when Japan was touted as having the ability to eclipse the US as number one, everyone distrusted us and accused us of being unscrupulous. Exactly where China is in now.
After the US forced Japan into the Plaza accord to weaken Japans then, competitive semi conductor industry by tampering with the exchange rates to favor the US and thereby crashing Japan’s economic miracle which eventually lead to three decades of declining performance, Japan is finally in the good books.
Sh1mon M4sada
@quercetum
IMHO, this ^^^ is part of the problem, Japan, like you, misunderstanding the Plaza accord and never prepared for it.
First the Plaza Accord was 5 nations coordinating to make the USD more competitive, it wasn't just YEN/USD, ie it wasn't targeted at Japan only. Germany was also treated the same way (and was part of the Accord), how did Germany avoid the bust and surged ahead?
With the appreciating YEN, Japan (particularly Japanese banks and property speculators) got excessively greedy and leveraged to the hilt thinking the party would never end. That is roots of the Japanese asset bubble. When banks fall, they take the whole country with them.
Two years after the Plaza Accord, when Toshiba was targeted (for selling CNC machines to Russia), you can blame USA for this, but it was only targeted at Toshiba, Japanese companies like Sony etc., that took up the slack, or diversify actually survived and thrived.

“This is the common opinion among Japanese colleagues” as I wrote. The paragraph break was for ease of reading and is a continuation of the same thought.
It has to be a level playing field Any imminent country on its way up and making it can’t expect to be treated as it always has been.

Trump's tactic (or nevrose) is to confuse everyone and even himself, that none can recall who did what by when and trumpetting all the credit of the successes on him. Nothing about long term vision or strategy.
Spoiled kid behaviour.

the average of all major opinion polls proves otherwise, even right leaning polls like Fox have him at a higher disapproval rating
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/
he’s got an almost over 80% approval rating among Republican voters
80% of Republicans doesnt represent the majority of Americans far from it.
FizzBit
You seem pretty confused.

I would really like to see Trump hidden Inc. game playing at the stock exchange. Every and any of his Twits make the market up or down. He was using that already while playing with dad's money. But now he has 10 times - if not 100 times - more impact.
A compulsive cheater to feed his unmesurable ego.
Blacklabel
Imposes tariffs- liberals complain
removes tariffs- liberals complain
you would have credibility some if you at least picked a side of an issue and didn’t complain when he does the thing you agree with.
Open Minded
@Balcklabel
You are perfectly right. This is why Trump imposes tariffs on Monday with XYZ countries and remove them on Wednesday with XZT countries. And rechange his mind on Friday with ZUP countries and so on...
Credibility, you say....?
Spoiled kid, nothing else!
YuriOtani
Yea but trump could reimpose tariffs at any time. He created the problem in the first place.
