Over the next few months, Mr. Trump will become educated about US foreign policy. His eyes and ears will open and his mouth will close, we hope.

But the people who elected him will want his campaign promises to be kept, stupid as many were. He will try, but only slightly, for most of them. Most won't be possible, he will learn.

Never should anyone forget this. He should be anxious, will he get his blood from Asia ???.It depends on Asian leaders. America is finished long ago. Do u want to help re-build it or do u want to be it's equal ???.Pls think very deeply.

Oh, wow. I wish I had taken their feelings into consideration when I voted.

Japan shouldn't act like a stalker of a country who doesn't like you. I heard Trump camp say, "We'll protect our ally Israel" That's it nothing else.

Then Asian countries you`ll have to start pulling your weight and not expect Americans to be risking their lives and wasting their money to babysit you.

Don't worry. We have checks and balances.

Yeah especially Duarte. I'm sure he's soiled his shorts after the results. Lets just see him tell Trump to go to hell.

Actually I think they might like each other. Which scares me even more.

“TPP was not just a trade deal, it was the United States and Japan, together ... these countries with shared values would create an advanced regional order with not just economic, but diplomatic and security implications,”

Wow, let's just step all over the other countries involved in the TPP and keep treating them like second class citizens, there is your "shared values" at work.

When Bush signed a free trade agreement with China and the avalanche of goods and the subsequent momentum of investment led to a skewed balance of trade and the hollowing out of industry in many countries, wouldn't we expect people to vote in a Trump like figure?

It is obvious that big business in collusion with government have damaged America so Japan as well as China has to face a more level playing field with Trump.....

Or it "May Not", which means exactly the same thing. If you aren't sure enough in your assertions to use a term stronger than "may", keep them to yourself.

America first is just a slogan used to give people some false hope, people fail to realize trump is a businessman with a business mentality who will keep good business relationships with countries like China who the US is deeply indebted to BTW,all other nations will either have to offer him quid pro quo or move along. He will most likely keep close ties with Vampire..I mean Vladimir Putin until he feels he is no longer useful,as for other Asian nations I doubt much will change once the puppet masters show him the grand scheme of location and accessibility as well as defensive postures he will play along just like all good puppets.

Japan should diversify talks with other close strategic friendly countries for stationing of additional troops to provide it adequate security cover in case it feels threatened due to hostile moves of some belligerent countries towards Japan.
