Deal by year end?

Oh God, I hope not!

What Minello7 writes is perfectly true.

TPP is poison.

It gives total power to the huge corporations and all cloaked in dark secrecy.

It would be WORSE than the SOVIET ERA!

As "Bertie" states above: By year end? A quick glance at the calendar shows that there's only six weeks remaining until then. If the TPP parties have failed to reach a satisfied solution by now, how can they do it by the end of 2013? Rushing into a quick conclusion on this important treaty could be disasterous for all sides involved ...

Read about it.

The TPP is not a small matter.

This is American Imperialism.

It gives American huge corporations like Monsanto the power to control TPP member GOVERNMENTS!

Why are negotiations which affect our lives directly being discussed and negotiated IN SECRET?

Why rush now? It is already November/ ( How many working days? It is not January).

“In each capital, it was clear that this is in their interest,”

Indeed, it is in the interest of a very few wealthy corporations and people and not in the interest of the populations in each country, otherwise, why would there be such secrecy and why would 600 corporate leaders be helping to write this thing, instead of including NPOs, citizens groups, farmers, union reps and other people who will be hurt by this scam dressed up as a trade pact.

China and Indonesia are not included. It is ignoring the ASAN members in Asia.

Right, Toshiko. China and Indonesia are neighbouring countries. They should be included in any trade agreement. But you see, the USA has decided that China is its enemy. They cannot fight a war directly because they have borrowed so much money from China and because the Chinese population in the U.S.A. is huge. The American plan is to isolate China and destroy its trade. They are using the same techniques they used on the USSR. And I'm sure they would love Japan to fight a proxy war with China for them.

The TPP benefits large US corporations only. It makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. They are running into a lot of resistance from member countries. That is why they are trying to rush it through.

TPP is nothing to do with a free trade and a fair trade. TPP is a trade block. It is all political and it only benefits global corporations. We, common people are all left out and this is a bull sh__t, They do not care a damn.

Warispeace,

why would there be such secrecy and why would 600 corporate leaders be helping to write this thing, instead of including NPOs, citizens groups, farmers, union reps and other people who will be hurt by this scam dressed up as a trade pact.

Exactly.

The huge corporations will control governments. This is the plan. They know people will never agree to this so they are holding the negotiations IN SECRET and will only let us know when documents have been signed and it's too late.

America has dumped Freedom and Democracy. These things are no longer needed because the US knows what's best for everybody.

TPP includes Mexico that is far away from Asia. Asian nations should not isolate any Asian countries. Maybe some politicians in USA wish China to attack Japan in order to forfelt its debt to China? China is not an enemy of Japan. So. Korea may want to attack Japan but not China, China had too many bad experience since when Japan invaded China, Lew is unfamiliar wirh relationship between China and Japan. Not middle east, either. WW III did not occur in middle east. maybe hawks in USA want WW III in Asia? More and more cooperation with China and Japan, especially economically.

The introduction of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) by America to engage Asian countries for trades? How ignorant. Be aware what it means..

One of the scary aspects of the leaked TPP content:

Although TPP has been branded as a "trade" agreement, the leaked text shows that "TPP would limit how signatory countries may regulate foreign firms operating within their boundaries, with requirements to provide them greater rights than domestic firms. The leaked text reveals a two-track legal system, with foreign firms empowered to skirt domestic courts and laws to directly sue TPP governments in foreign/TPP tribunals. There they can demand compensation for domestic financial, health, environmental, land use laws and other laws they claim undermine their new TPP privileges."

In other words, TPP tribunal can overrule independent country trade policy and foreign firms can demand compensations while ignoring the country trade policy. Want to guess who will be controlling the tribunal? Any countries that sign on such Partnership are plainly ignorant and deserve to be doomed.

TPP is a very bad thing. For one thing all it is negotiated in secret meetings dominated by governments and corporations. I wonder why. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/nov/13/trans-pacific-paternership-intellectual-property

The future of Japanese agriculture under TPP: Farmers will go bankrupt and move to unemployment rolls. Their farms will be bought by corporations who replace farm labor with the cheapest foreign labor available. Food prices will not fall but corporations will rake in money while the public debt swells to pay for the increased unemployment and higher health costs. Using cheap foreign labor to support its agriculture is of course unsustainable and Japan's day of reckoning will eventually arrive as Abe's descendants are replaced by the descendants of cheap foreign labor.
