There should definitely be a million analysts going over the data on China's activities. No Chinese loan should be a secret to the US.

Spot on!

China is to Asia what Russia is to Europe.

This guy has tried hard to “mean something” on a local stage after the disasters he made in Chicago as a Mayor, and was offered a minor job in Asia from Biden, and all he is doing is provoking China just to be on a front page. Utterly ridiculous. Could not even finish the article.

The US administration is to the world what Israel is to the Middle East: a destabilizing power.

So says the representative of the country that wrote the book on economic coercion with the use of tariffs, sanctions and bans.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

It's an interesting idea.

There needs to be some way for countries to show their anger against others in a non-violent way, and if you take away the ability to impose tariffs, etc., I don't know what would substitute them.

One idea could be such a trade-defense coalition, Emanuel said, and for that to be effective, he suggested it "would need the economic equivalent of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Article 5 -- an attack on one is an attack on all -- at its core."

This goofball would be in the Cabinet if Harris was winning the election.

no thanks.

One can only imagine the billions US arms dealers will make from these deals...

Asia doesn't need warmongering organizations..

It's not your region, it's not your country...

Y.G.H !!..

NATO-like economic organization?

Umm, Rahm, NATO is a military organization. It’s clout derives from America’s willingness to invade or otherwise effect regime change against countries that flout the superpower’s economic rules. It’s a power that is rapidly weakening.

And, let’s be honest, to enforce the kind of economic interests and actions that Emanuel alludes to, America and Japan would need militaries in the region at least triple or quadruple the current size.

Many of the major, region-shaping and world-shaping wars in Asia of the last two centuries were rooted in pacts of countries enforcing their economic interests. Emanuel advocates a return to an exceptionally bloody past.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

@mikeylikesit Rahm apparently is not aware that China is the number one trade partner of all surrounding countries not named Bong Bongland. You have to appreciate his imagination.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

If China doesn't play with every nation fairly, then those nations should act as a block to treat China in the same manner administratively, not after 6 months of waiting for elected representatives to argue and kill reciprocal response for China acting in bad faith.

The Chinese economy needs to the world, just as much as the world needs China. Negotiations on all levels - economic, cultural, political, and military need to be tied to win-win negotiations.

Since Taiwan is the country that understands China the best, they should lead. And before Nationalist Chinese start claiming Taiwan is a province, since when did you need a visit to enter a province? Also, when was the last time someone was "deported" from a province like they are from Taiwan for bad behavior?

U.S. ambassador to Japan Rham Emanuel seems to be fully aware of the fact that Japan is a docile vassal of the U.S.

So that he personally inspected newly installed SDF missile bases in the Sakishima to confirm their capability to counter incoming Chinese missiles

and proposed that Japan have a NATO-style alliance with like-minded nations in the Pacific.

And yet the US has a billion people in the OECD on it's side. Go figure.

He says with no evidence whatsoever.

Here comes the sheriff, to restore the gospel truth :)

Maybe you heard something like the “Global South” or the rest of the world which are not the G7 servants, actually siding against maligned economies like today's US administration. Probably not. Keep reading.

And by the way China is very much Asia more than any distant trait of US could ever be.

I aim to please.

I've heard the global south doesn't like Chinese debt traps very much.

And by the way China is very much Asia more than any distant trait of US could ever be.

It's not all of Asia, despite wishes.

The first thing that President Trump will do after regaining power is that he will fire this clown! President Trump knows the importance of doing business with China for economic stability and growth! China cannot be ignored or pushed aside as far as trading and economic sectors are concerned. President Trumps daughter Ivanka has her entire fashion brand produced in China and marketed globally through China’s distribution. President Trump plans to build many hotels and buildings in China and will work closely with the Chinese government after coming into power. That’s his life long dream and he will liaise with Chinese officials accordingly after becoming president in 2025! The current US Ambassador to Japan Rahm ( because of his anti China views ) will be changed immediately by President Trump.

Yes, it is likely Trump will try to put a yes man in all positions so there are no complaints about his treason.

Well I am glad it is all out in the open that Trump will do Xi's bidding.

Emamuel also suggested the Japanese government appoint persons in charge of executing the mass evacuation of islanders to safer places in mainland Japan. There are many islanders who are opposed to such a plan.

I am sure there is none among the followers of this thread, let alone Emanue himself, who knows about the Tsushima-Maru Incident. The pre-war days Japanese government also set up a similar mass evacuation policy. In line with this policy, over a thousand Okinawa school children boarded the Tsushima-Maru to evacuate to Kyushu. But the school children-carrying cargo ship was torpedoed by a U.S. submarine and sank to the bottom of the pitch-dark night sea.

Emanuel's suggestion reminds me of such an incident; it's a de ja vu trail once tread.

My mother used to say "sit straight and talk straight."

All these pro-America sheriffs never ask themselves what would happen if China goes to the Gulf of Mexico to install military equipment and selling weapons to the US neighboring countries, just like Washington is trying to in the Asian continent. It is utter hypocrisy and lack of knowledge of history.

China does have a spy base in Cuba and the Soviet Union did provide a ton of military aid to the country. Not the US's fault China ain't got no friends.

Hmm… Based on this chat alone, If we want to use it as natural benchmark, it seems to me that the only country NOT having any friends is the same one you strenuously defend. And even if your claim about Cuba has any fundament (again Us propaganda) we are talking about 650 military bases that Washington runs all over the world, a source of destabilizing threat, especially in Asia. Just like your friends are doing in the Middle East, immoral and unacceptable.
