That's not the rising sun, it's the Hinomaru Japan flag, you can't see it because of the angle of the photo..

Oh, there is the Japanese flag in 3rd position, nevermind.

An interesting observation in the photo is that Japanese SDF's Rising Sun flag is missing, only American, Korean and Philippines flags are present.

China needs to deeply understand what they are up against if they continue with their illegal claim over the SCS and threatening Taiwan. Who are China's allies in this regard? North Korea? Iran? Russia?- as if they can afford any additional military action.
The best thing for China is to follow the international rules based order and become a constructive participant in the international community.

The assertive actions of China and Russia - that to bully and brutalize their smaller neighbors -- are pushing more Asian nations toward the US. It won't be long until the Vietnamese join these exercises.

This article is very ironic if you know anything about the history of the Phillipines and the family background of the current president.

So many nations in the region wanting to hold exercises with US forces, to uphold their own freedoms and sovereignty. It makes it very easy to see just who the threat is (China, Russia, North Korea). They need to swear off violence and threats of violence and join the international community in harmony, by following principles of the rights of the individual and minority groups, and following laws and rules established by a vast majority of nations, including in many cases themselves.
Until they are no longer a threat to those around them, like minded nations will continue to work together for peace and security for all.
