China has said Japan should not interfere in Beijing's internal affairs.

Yet...

China warns of reprisal as Japanese city changes disputed area name

China fails to understand that a Japanese City changing the name of an island within it's own boundaries is Interfering in Japan's Internal Affairs.

Typical hypocrisy from the CCP dictatorship.

This is the same China That built islands out of nowhere, & claimed they were China’s territory.

China should shut up for once. They still owe a hell lot of stuff to the world for this COVID-19 thing while neighboring countries owe them next to nothing at all for the last 70 years. The CCP reminds me of something I occasionally pick up on my shoe in the gutter. Very unpleasant on a hot day.

China is being stupid again and need to be taught a lesson.

China can b taught only by kick on their arse just like the got in Ladak they dont understand other language

Shut up, Communist China. Japan is free to name her territory and islands whatever they wish. Japan would be better off ceasing all relations with Communist China. Anyone who disagrees is a Communist sympathiser, in my opinion.

If these are truly Japan's islets, then it should do what most owners do, Prove it and build on it, otherwise if not already I'm sure China has its own development and designs in the ready and lately they have clearly showed their intention in just landing and taking it with construction starting overnight. Japan will do nothing.

Of course China is wrong here. They almost always are about everything.

But, all these calls for war over a silly island naming dispute is just stupid. Especially when the balance of military power is so one-sided in this case. (In China's favor, btw, if you are too ill-informed or blinded by nationalism to understand that simple fact.)

Also, I'd rather not have the US military dragged into another war, especially over such a childish dispute. And, you know the US would have no choice but to defend Japan in such a debacle.

The timing is good. China right now is wrestling with India in a intense border brawl.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

They're basically changing it from Senkaku to Senkaku. Clear as mud, m'lud.

Dear China

Do you understand reality?

Japan has not built anything on those islands, No Japanese living there, no resources are being extracted.

Your upset with Japan because they change the name of the islands from one Japanese name Senkaku Islands to another Japanese name.

You always have called them Diaoyu Islands.

Be grateful Japan is taking a friendly approach to China. You have very few friends in this world and without Japan's support your setting yourself up for another century of humiliation.

Japan can give them a good fight ....if they really want one.

Of course Okinawa is part of the greater China top of course chumps!

Don’t give an inch to gangster bullies flexing paper power. Okinawa has a staunch enough to hold strong.

Taiwan's government, which also claims the islets, also said its foreign ministry had "strongly protested" to Japan about the name change

Japan and Taiwan should join forces. Take a page from the corrupted ccp's playbook : The enemy of your enemy is your friend.

No it's not one sided at all. In a conventional limited war where the Chinese objective is to take a Japanese island the JSDF can undoubtedly defend itself and stop a Chinese advance.

The advantage of China's greater military power only comes into play in an all-out war against Japan alone. But ANY military action by China to take the Senkakus will effectively engage the United States in direct confrontation because two Secretaries of State, two Secretatoes of Defense, and the President of the United States have openly declared that any Chinese attenpt to take the Senkakus will invoke Article 5 of the US-Japam Mutiual Defense Treaty.

.....

Call them on it militarily? You're joking, right?

garypen your comments are very contradictory , of course Japan can step forward on china militarily and call them on it over its territory , you even admit that the USA have no choice but to back them.

Its Japanese territory US has a defense agreement with Japan , of course Japan needs to be stepping forward to protect its property and it has every right to.

Or you think let it slide and let China build airbases like it has on reefs throughout the pacific?

No Thank You !

Typical hypocritical double speak from the CCP mafia dons in Peking.

"The advantage of China's greater military power only comes into play in an all-out war against Japan alone."

And by removing China's nuclear advantage, Chinese troops will have to literally swim across the Pacific in order to occupy Japan.

Only then their numerical superiority will be of any value.

China is itching for war and doesnt care with who, they have clearly showed their intent on more than a few occasions.

Japan needs to step forward on them and call them on it.

If neither country is willing to submit to binding international arbitration as to the validity of their claim, they should be blown up. It's a pile of rocks.

Where do you get the idea that it's "neither country"?? It's ONLY CHINA has declared that International Forum rulings regarding Chinese sovereigty will not be recognized. Look what they did with the Spratleys.

And so can China. Your point?

Japan changin the name of the Isles must be accompanied by the landing of troops to gain effective physical control like what SK did in Dokdo.

Failin to simultaneously accomplish both missions will only loudly prove to the whole world that a territorial dispute indeed truly exists!

Abe is shooting his own foot with this very da-kine comical move !

China’s reprisal?

A boatload of lazy slav...-trainees.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

China can also change the name and so can the rightful owner Ilan county!

Da-kine name changing contest is better than war.

Beijing should call it Avenger Island and Taiwan names it Taipei-Tokyo Friendship Island?

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

China has every right to reprisal for what the Ishigaki City assembly did if the area really belongs to them. But this claim of China's to the Senkakus has a lot of room to dispute. The issue must be filed with the International Court of Justice but this is not possible unless two sides agree to the lawsuit.

Then, can't the international court’s constitution be revised so that any party can present a case before the court, regardless of the other party's objection? Or can't a third party, a civic group, file a suit? It is essential that both sides listen to what Okinawa has to say about the history, nomenclature and what not, of the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands.
