"I'm very sorry that a member of my family was involved in behavior resulting in public servants breaching the ethics law, and I apologize deeply to citizens," Suga told parliament. "I deeply regret that it has come to a situation, where people's trust in the administration has been damaged"

There was never any trust to begin with so why is there all this hypocritical ‘very sorry’ speech?

Just keep showing the electorate how their taxes are being wasted!

I thought Suga seemed like a relatively safe pair of hands when he took over but I shouldn't be surprised that one of Abe's top people should turn out to be so useless.

Oh, well, if he apologized AGAIN then for breaking trust, and has vowed AGAIN (fifth time so far?) to regain public trust, then clearly the government is working towards rectifying such practices.

You vote for LDP, then this is what you deserve. Not one single person who voted for LDP should complain.

It's a rigged game abated by another country, ever since the LDP was created from without. No one ascends in that party unless they uphold the playbook. Foreigners who support any of what they get up to (i.e. foreign policy) rather than calling them out help keep them in power, although ultimately it is the responsibility of the Japanese people.

Yamada admission to hospital meant she missed a Monday parliamentary committee meeting where opposition politicians were expected to question her about her dinner with the younger Suga

The ol' Abe Maneuver. When under pressure, hide in a hospital.

This sort of thing has been going on in business in practically every country since time immemorial.
