Fine to talk, but please Ishiba: do not fall for the usual CCP lies. It may act nicely, but it will renege on all its promises, and continue its acts of aggression. Don't be fooled.

confirm that they will seek "strategic and mutually beneficial" relations

Sadly, this won't happen while the CCP is in power. The CCP doesn't want to cooperate; it wants to dominate.

Ishiba is expected to express concern about China's increasing military activity around Japan after it breached Japanese airspace in August for the first time.

And China will ignore this, as it is a rogue state.

The two leaders may also discuss efforts toward China's resumption of Japanese seafood imports

A ban that is in clear violation of WTO rules. Typical Chinese economic coercion, and yet another example of why the CCP can never be trusted.

The uninhabited islets are administered by Japan but claimed by China.

If China really thinks it has a claim, it should pursue this through the proper international legal channels.

But it won't, because it doesn't respect international law and just wants to steal things.

That anyone wishing peace would protest the leaders of Japan and China, neighboring countries, speaking one-on-one is disingenuous and that is being polite.

Ishiba is one of the disciples of the late Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka (1918-1993), who was a fierce anti-Communist during the Cold War but also negotiated the normalization of Japan-China relations when Nixon did the same for US-China relations. You can expect him to approach foreign policy similarly to Prime Minister Tanaka.

It is in the best interest of both nations to continue on cooperating in all fields and avoid any frictions, Japan and China are the only two major powers in Asia that can influence the entire region and the must do all they can towards peace and prosperity.

Any fool who thinks that either side could win or dominate the region is a total ignorant, just look at Europe and the middle east and imagine what it could it be like.

Those who are promoting wars or confrontation will be the first to leave or escape in case a war breaks out just like every where else.

Best of luck for both leaders.

Suggest you tell that to Xi Jing Ping. I don't see anyone else trying to dominate the region.

I can sense an obvious struggle for somebody to come to terms that two neighbors country, which belong to the same continent, China and Japan, are attempting any form if dialogue and diplomacy, rather than dealing merely in the business of exchanging weapons, such as USA and Japan. I could not bring myself to read the whole farcical representation of reality, just random few lines on the WTO rules, somebody clearly forgetting the the US started this tariffs and other trade barriers war on China based on no evidence, creating huge problems to European and Asian companies, just to preserve Washington interests.

You have got to feel sorry for those American arms manufacturers and the military-industrial complex that had big expectations of business in Asia through the creation of this imaginary narrative.
